Since I didn't want to resurrect one of the individual S4 threads, I wanted to say that Bauer taking over the convenience store was one of the greatest scenes in television history. I still remember watching it on DVD back in the day and shitting my pants. It was outrageous in the best possible way!

Sounds like you've already seen season 4, so you know Day 4: 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m has the best shootout in television history haha

And cool to see a young and unknown Logan Marshall-Green as the Secretary of Defense's son.

That's one of things about watching it again after about 20 years. The faces that pop up you forgot were in it.

Knocked out S4 last night. Man, the hatewatching in those threads did get annoying, though. Good thing some of the folks in those threads finally stopped posting after a while. S4 is my favorite season out of the seasons that I did watch. Now I've started on S5.

Season 5 is gold. Emmy award winning. Peak ratings.

Knocked out S5 and it was great. Now on S6 E4 and I think season 6 is the final season that I watched. I want to say there was a writer's strike or long break between seasons that I never came back to franchise after S6.

Morris is hilarious!

The writer’s strike happened after season 6.

When it was resolved, I’ll give credit to the 24 writers for giving the fans the “Redemption” TV movie while we waited for season 7. And then they knocked it out the park again with season 7 (Annie Wersching being the highlight of the season).

Re: The 24 (Twenty Four) Episode discussion thread index by Season (Jack Bauer)

The writer's strike happened after they filmed around 4 or 5 episodes of season 7. Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran, who were the creators of the show, EPs and writers, decided to quit and move on and not return to the show once a new contract was signed. I believe Howard Gordon became the full-time showrunner once they resumed filming. And they did take a year off to get their bearings straight, but Gordon wrote 24: Redemption to help fill the year void. Surnow is retired and out of TV. Cochran did come back for season 9.

There was some good stuff in season 6, especially the 1st 4 episodes. But, it's widely regarded as the worst season. They had no plot mapped out and were just making up stories as they went along and even hired actors back who were no longer on the show, just because they were available. And I'm not making this up either, the writers acknowledged they were just making shit out as they went along because they were struggling to fill the 24 episode quota.

After they took the year, I did think they got their creative juices back for season 7, most of season 8 and the final season with Sutherland.

Live Another Day was refreshing with the London location, and benefited greatly from the 12 episode limited event.

I’d be content with a 2 hour TV movie every year (or 4 hours split over 2 days like the good old days), instead of new seasons.

Highly unlikely we'll see it return anytime in the near future if you read that article I posted from Gordon. I know you don't subscribe to Paramount +, but Kiefer has a new thriller series Rabbit Hole coming next month. And a teaser trailer was released, but then again you won't watch trailers.

Just wrapped up S6 and that was fun and was as far as I went with the series. I see the jump went two years and now S7 has 25 episodes, because the way HULU has it indexed, S7 E1 Redemption (Prequel) is a whopping 86 minutes on its own. S7 E2 has the regular time code.

Glad you enjoyed it. I think most of my 24 autographs are from the actors/actresses in season 7.

Re: The 24 (Twenty Four) Episode discussion thread index by Season (Jack Bauer)

Just wrapped up S8 and only had vague recollections of some of it. Wow, Necar Zadegan was gorgeous in this. The funny part is that she's supposed to be this "older" President Hasan's wife and she was only 28 in real life. Hell, the actress that played her daughter was probably the same age. Necar is barely 40 now and still fine as hell. She's in some of Mayor of Kingstown episodes - playing the assistant district attorney.

Will be starting up S9 in a bit!

A few things I remember from season 8:
  • I disliked Katee Sackhoff, though maybe it was just her character
  • First half wasn’t good. Second half finished strong.
  • Freddie Prinz Jr was ok on the show, but revealed himself to be an ass many years later
  • “ That’s Jack Bauer!” scene
  • Good series finale (at the time when we thought that was the last of 24)

Just wrapped up S9. Wow, Jack Bauer ascended to Highlander status! Great cast, too. I did enjoy Chloe's goth/punk look - very sexy. Michael Wincott was great, as well.

I also watched Solitary and that was fun. Now starting 24 Legacy for shits and giggles.

Oh, and William Devane was great and a solid gut wrenching coda for him at the end with reference to his mental faculties. He should have gotten an Emmy nomination for that.

You finished 12 episodes in 1 day? I guess being sick with COVID gives you the time.

Yeah don't count on Legacy being of the same quality of the previous 9 seasons. While Corey Hawkins is a decent actor, he's not an action star. Aside from Jimmy Smits and Miranda Otto, the supporting cast of Legacy was weak.

Wow, that was quick haha

Yvonne Strahovski did a great job. And don’t forget about John Boyega pre-Star Wars. I also liked Benjamin Bratt on the cast.

One of my 24 props is Cheng’s black jacket from Day 9.

I also bought a ticket to Mary Lynn Rajskub’s (Chloe) stand up show. Not sure how good her comedy is, but apparently she does meet-and-greets afterwards, so I can hopefully get her autograph in my collection.

Re: The 24 (Twenty Four) Episode discussion thread index by Season (Jack Bauer)

And that's a wrap with 24 Legacy. Yeah, it was mediocre, but I'd say the last 2-3 episodes were the best ones. I didn't gravitate towards the Eric character, but did like some of the side characters like the Senator and so forth. Almeida was cool but looks like he's a full time merc now.

The studio cancelled the series, but didn't rule out an anthology installment, so here's hoping they bring it back somehow in another limited series. It's already been 6 years since Legacy.

Re: The 24 (Twenty Four) Episode discussion thread index by Season (Jack Bauer)

Legacy is the only season I haven’t watched more than once, and didn’t purchase on DVD. I thought it was ok, but I didn’t need a second season.

I recommend the 24 PS2 game for a good expanded universe story. I thought it was a well made game that stayed true to the franchise.

Also, the first expanded universe book was this, released after Day 1. However, some info eventually gets outdated as future seasons are released. It is a good read, which isn't written like a normal novel.
