That was a great ep. I didn't like them making Geordi a dick but he kinda redeemed himself. But i loved the gushy Geordi family stuff.

-Vadic is aweseome.
-Shaw geeking out
-Jack connecting with LaForge and Seven
-Team Raffi and Worf 😍😍😍 Raffi Haters can suck it.
-Geordi, Geordi's grey hair/beard, L. Burton and his daughters in the show and on The Ready Room 😍😍😍😍
-"DataLoreB4Soong"....TBD...
-Action Star and Music Student Riker

I really need for that to not be Troi because if it is then writers still can't come up with something more interesting for her character than being a victim.

I thought the entire Shrike crew was changelings. Did they say they were some other race? Aren't the changelings the ones wanting Jack Crusher?

And I think a Data/Lore/Soongh security system sounds terrifying. The only reason our heroes made it through was because Data recognized them.

Great ep, though. LOVING the TNG reunion. Hope that's not the real Deanna, though. And I want Wesley to show up!

Vadic is a Changeling... but her "boss" seems to say stuff like "your people/kind". So one wonders what her boss is because it seems to be separating itself from Changelings. Hell, almost like it's looking down on them.

I heard an interesting theory that perhaps what they are after is in the Picard Genes which is that disease both him and Jack have. Maybe it's the key to curing them?

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

I keep seeing people on twitter comment that this is the best Trek since TNG went off the air, and I have to agree. None of this feels like fan service - it feels almost close to reverence, but not just hero worship. Like they're finally understanding that these all these shows from the past are not isolated pockets of stories that happen to inhabit the same universe but instead are all threads of the same wonderful tapestry and they are finally weaving them together into something new and amazing.

As for the events, I had thought Moriarty was actually the big bad, not just a security system. Hopefully we get to see him again. And a very clever way to bring back Data.

I had kinda hoped they would steal the whole Bird-of-Prey, but ganking the cloaking device the way they did was pretty fun too.

And absolutely hysterical to finally see Shaw caught off guard with a bit of hero worship.

Let's go ahead and set off the Genesis Device again and bring back Kirk since his remains are there. I don't care how stupid that sounds.

They said there was a book that had The Borg digging up Kirk after Picard buried him post "Generations"...anything is possible?

Honestly, it's kinda goofy because unless Kirk's bones are part of Picard's story, it's some full on fan service.

Yeah, and it was written by ... William Shatner.

Great stuff.

I don't know if it's the best since TNG/DS9, but after many failures since DS9, it's great to have this season of Picard plus having SNW and Lower Decks going.

The book is called The Return and it's fantastic and they should've made that into the first Next Gen movie it would've been HUGE hit.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

I read a lot of those Trek books back in the late 90s/early 2000s (return of Kirk, special TNG/Q, and DS9 continuations), and I said to my fried this season actually felt like those in a good way.

As for the next ep being called Dominion, it would be bonkers if Gaul Ducat or Weyune showed up. However, it’s been so long since I watched DS9 - I feel like they both died.

I wonder if Worf will somehow take the Defiant out on his quest to bring back Riker.

The line/talk about all the federation ships now being all linked didn't seem like a throwaway. Kinda wondering if the museum ships will come into play with that somehow, since presumably they would not be connected if needed.

My hunch is one of two options:
Geordi has tracked down and restored the original Enterprise D and its hidden inside the starbase
OR
We get an army of ships: Worf with the Defiant, Seven of Nine with Voyager, Picard with an Enterprise

I thought there was a lot of talk about the Enterprise F during the trailers. Apparently it’s an official thing via STO. I have no clue as to plot, design, capabilities (e.g., Sovereign class was built to fight Borg), but I suspect that the F will be the one to take down the big bad ship.

Re: Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +) -- The 3rd and Final season -- Premieres 2/16/23

Finally got a chance to watch this and wow that was great. Loved all the callbacks especially the one from Data and Riker's first meeting. Really hit the feels as did Data's revival and seeing the ship museum.

I thought the stolen item from Daystrom was going to be Lore so that was way unexpected. I think it's great they've embraced Robo-Picard instead of pretending it never happened.

Weird they'd have Kirk's remains at Daystrom but they probably wanted to study them to learn the secret of his babe magnetism and how he tapped so much alien tail but didn't die from a mutant STD.

I've seen it mentioned in a couple of places that Daystrom also had Archer's remains, but I haven't been able to catch it in the episode.

Consider me a Raffi convert. I liked her okay in previous seasons. I didn't necessarily like her storyline in the beginning but since she's teamed up with Worf it's been awesome. The two have some real chemistry together.

And yes if y'all aren't watching the Ready Room you really need too. Yeah I know Will Wheaton can be annoying some times but come on he's one of us. He's a huge fan. I think it's great he's genuinely geeking out about this. And seeing the TNG cast on there has been great. The LaForge's on this past episode were especially adorable. Although I'm a little embarrassed I thought the wrong TV daughter was his real daughter. Even after watching her host Trek day specials.

That Encounter at Farpoint footage looked amazing, even cropped down to scope ratio.

That's what I was thinking. Did they do a remaster of that clip? I don't remember the footage of the TNG remaster looking quite that good. Especially considering TNG is all on tape.

All of Star Trek was filmed on film (except possibly Enterprise being on tape, but it was at least done at 1080 lines). *

I think I saw on twitter that they did some extra scanning of the film footage since they knew it would be zoomed so much. The showrunner Terry Matalas is very active on twitter, engaging with the community and even answering some questions that the show doesn't quite explain well enough.

*The reason TNG was so expensive to remaster was that the film was transferred to tape for editing and FX work. They had to go back and rescan all that film and cut it to the right timing then make new FX in high definition. DS9 and VOY were done the same way, but they haven't been restored because the TNG Blu-rays didn't sell as well as Paramount had hoped, because it was around the time when streaming started to get big. TOS and TAS were both completed on film so they could easily have hi-def transfers, and all new Trek series starting with Discovery are done in either hi-def or 4K. All 13 films have at least a 2K master, with the majority of them having being done on film.

Oh that's right. I forgot about that. So all on set stuff was captured on film and FX were done on tape. That's why they had to redo all the FX.

Hope we see more Voyager crew show up. Liked the theme mixed into that first intro with Tuvok.

A lot of Vadic in this week’s episode and even backstory on her. Honestly it wasn’t my favorite of the season. I did like the cameo from Tim Russ and Seven quickly figuring out it was an imposter. Missed Riker, Worf and even Raffi this week.

Yeah not much going on this episode. Seeing "Tuvok" was great. Just tell us wtf is going on with Jack already, sheesh.
