She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E01) - “A Normal Amount of Rage” - 8/18/22

Nine episodes first season. Episodes are around 30 mins long and apparently, all have mid-credits scenes.

re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E01) - “A Normal Amount of Rage” - 8/18/22

Been waiting for this one. She-Hulk of the 90's was one of my favorite comics. Even when it was more collecting than reading, I always read her.
I just read She-Hulk (2004) Vol 1 Single Green Female on digital thanks to Marvel Insiders. Used points to get it for free. I might have to buy Vol 2, as it looks like the series is going to be similar.

As usual whenever I start one of these Disney+ shows, "please, don't suck".

EDIT: Just saw Vol 1 & 2 is available on Prime reading, so on to Vol 2.

Was a fan of the 2004 Dan Slott series when it came out, and never in a million years expected an adaptation, so I’m in.

Because Wade Wilson is from the same place in Canada that Tatiana Maslany is from.

That would be a pretty amazing way to introduce Deadpool to the MCU....

Screenrant and Slahfilm are meh on the series, Collider loved it and from what I can tell for the most part folks feel this show is a winner. I was already planning to watch but the generally positive reviews always are a plus.

Screenrant brought the review bombing on IMDB issue to my attention, yeah...you have to love all of those insecure dudes who while trashing the show that they have not even seen yet, will most likely be watching it when it finally airs, and thinking of Tatiana Maslany when they get to the point where they succumb to certain urges that overtake them, lol!

Sigh, comic book fandom can be so embarrassing at times.

This looks like it could be fun. I’m down to see it. I was wondering what Maslany was doing since Orphan Black. Will see this for her alone. And the best Hulk so far with Mark Ruffalo. I hope he’s in more then one ep.

re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E01) - “A Normal Amount of Rage” - 8/18/22

That was really fun and it moved pretty briskly. I thought Tatiana Maslany was perfect as Jen/She-Hulk and I enjoyed her banter with Banner. The writing was fun and witty. I had a good time.

Refresh my memory, what was the significance of the space ship that caused Banner and Jen’s accident? Was that something from Ragnarok?

I think this was the perfect Marvel IP to go light hearted comedy.

the end credit scene was Hulk revealing when Steve Rogers lost his virginity.

Ruffalo was credited as special guest star, so he’s probably not going to be on many more episodes.

So I guess it's not common knowledge that Steve went back in time and lived his whole life with Peggy. I assume this is why Bruce did not want to tell Jen.

I liked it a lot and that mostly has to do with Maslany. She continues to knock everything out of the park.

The episode did feel a little choppy though. I read that the flashback stuff was actually Episode 8 and in the edit they felt it was too long to wait to show that to audiences. So they moved it up to get it out of the way.

The VFX looked better than the trailer.

End credit scene made me

VFX was 1000% times better then the trailer and that had me kinda off. But, I enjoyed the hell of out episode 1 and look forward to more.

End credit scene was hilarious, loved it.

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E01) - “A Normal Amount of Rage” - 8/18/22

For an origin story, this should've been much better imo.

- Can we drop the 2:35 aspect ratio? None of these shows are cinematic enough to warrant it, they should be in 1:85 - especially this show.

- Smart Hulk was unnecessary - give me Mark Ruffalo the actor please. And it would've been so much more interesting to change the dynamic and have him be the smaller person in the scenes. Bring in Hulk for the fight scene, that would also make that more memorable.

- In general I just don't see why they don't make her more confident or smarter as a person (whining about student loans for one) - maybe I'm missing the character arc and that She-Hulk brings her that confidence, if that's the case I'll reserve judgement on that until later.

- She deserves an orchestral score/theme. Not some flavor of the week piece of crap song - it looks and feels cheap.

I do really look forward to seeing She-Hulk in the Avengers films, but this seems to be yet again a completely disposable show, and non-essential viewing. None of these MCU series have even felt like an actual show to me yet. (I can't be the only one right?)

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E01) - “A Normal Amount of Rage” - 8/18/22

I just finished watching the first episode. I like the light hearted tone compared to the other MCU Disney+ shows. The interactions between her and Banner were perfect. I wish they wouldn't go with the fourth wall breaking stuff unless there is an in-universe explanation for it. The main issue I had with this episode is the origin feels a bit rushed with very little build up to her first getting her powers. That and I feel like I pretty much had already seen this episode considering that nearly all the scenes were in at least one of the many trailers for the show. I think this will be one of their better shows though. Moon Knight and the other ones just had a plot that revolved around the special effects cinematography they wanted to do, but I feel this show will be more plot driven and not have a convoluted plot.

Not as cringe as I was expecting. I like the She-Hulk persona, but it is choppy. Big surprise Bruce is still a simp. I think the fight during their training was more hardcore than whatever Hulk did in Endgame. Seems like he's been nerfed here again.

The after credit scene was great.

I'm guessing that "smart" Hulk is much smaller and weaker than the "dumb" Hulk.

I really enjoyed it. My only two complaints were the “theme song” at the end and Smart Hulk. I’m really sick of that version.

Re: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (S1E01) - “A Normal Amount of Rage” - 8/18/22

this was a lot of fun. a lot. fastest 30 minutes ever. i couldn't believe how fast it flew. this was very breezy and Marvel-light i would say. nothing dark, as of yet, but probably would be out of tune with first ep. but, i really liked this, save for the way she gets her powers. that was a little too illogical. but other than that, nice to have Ruffalo back, even if it was just for this ep. Maslany was funny and played the character with a lot of verve and pep. definitely a more comical Marvel endeavor and i think it works.
