Clearly a case of the emmy voters not actually watching this season of Atlanta and namecheck nomming its biggest star,as the show was otherwise shutout in every other category

Re: 2022 Emmy Awards discussion -- Show: 9/12/22 on NBC

Squid Game getting all those nominations is just ridiculous. Yeah, it was an entertaining show, but that's about it. Some of the acting was straight up bad.

I'm conflicted on some of the acting categories. I think Severance deserves to win everything it's nominated for, but then I would also like to see Bob and Rhea finally get a long overdue Emmy.
The supporting actress category is stacked. Rhea, Patricia Arquette, and Julia Garner all deserve to win. And even with all those great choices, I still think Britt Lower (Severance) was snubbed of a nomination.

Matthew Goode should have been nominated for The Offer in his role as Robert Evans.

At least Billy Crudup is killing it on The Morning Show.

Re: 2022 Emmy Awards discussion -- Show: 9/12/22 on NBC

Going over the list of nominations, my personal biggest disappointments are the shutouts of Midnight Mass, which was my favorite anything-on-tv that aired last year, and The Righteous Gemstones.

In the limited series category, I've only seen The White Lotus and Pam & Tommy, but I'd put Midnight Mass well above either of them and Hamish Linklater's performance blew away the supporting actor nominees from those two shows, save Murray Bartlett.

For comedy series, while the first season of Ted Lasso was better than the first season of The Righteous Gemstones, the opposite is true for their sophomore outings and it isn't even close. And Edi Patterson's hilariously unhinged performance absolutely deserved a supporting actress nod.

As others have said, Squid Game doesn't belong on this list.

Donald Glover's performance is also a head-scratcher. Atlanta is brilliant television and Glover's performance is certainly good, but it's not as good as the other three members of the core cast.

The dominance of Succession is boringly predictable, but they earned it.

I'm really glad to see Severance included, but boy did they fuck up the supporting actor noms. I'm a big fan of both John Turturro and Christopher Walken, but neither of them had anything on Tramell Tillman's performance.

Disappointed that The Afterparty got totally shut out. I guess it was a Limited Series, even though it was a 30 minute Comedy so maybe the lack of acting nominees I can live with, but not even a nomination for Yasper's Rap?

My guess is White Lotus is winning best Limited Series / Anthology, Succession is winning best Drama, and Comedy is a toss up between Hacks, Murders and Lasso
Almost duplicated the feat of Hill Street Blues' debut season, where all five Supporting Actor nominees were from the show.

Matthew Goode was the best performance I saw this past year, bar none.

Does no Emmy voter have a Paramount Plus subsciption?

The Offer: Zero nominations
Yellowstone: Zero nominations
1883: A couple minor nods (cinematography and music, I believe)
Strange New Worlds: One editing nomination
Mayor of Kingstown: Zero nominations
Evil: Zero nominations

These are some of the best shows that aired in the past year. It's actually laughable compared to some shows that DID get nods.

WTF?! I liked The White Lotus as much as the next guy but none of the acting in it was particularly noteworthy.

Jennifer Coolidge was. But only her. The rest weren’t worthy of a nomination.

Storywise, the show was kind of a mess but Oscar Isaacs acting was fantastic in the show and deserving of a nomination.

Paramount+ doesn't have Yellowstone, but surprised 1883 didn't get more. Not sure why The Offer got such a rough critical reception.

Kingstown was entertaining but didn't seem awards worthy, but then that's my same assessment of Squid Game.

OB, did you see Under The Banner of Heaven and The Staircase? Because Garfield and Firth were both amazing.

You must see Dopesick, especially being a physician yourself.

Glad to see my favorite show of 2022 get some nominations. Severance got the bigger names nominated, Scott, Arquette, Turturro and Walken.

Natasha Rothwell's is deserved just for her facial expressions when she had to deal with the guests.

1) What are the odds one of his SNL castmates comes out and slaps Kenan?

2) I guess it is something to put on TV in what is still technically summer, but I am surprised the networks want to air the premium cable and streaming awards

My money's on Kel.

Maybe it's all an act but I can't imagine anyone having beef with Kenan, like at all.

Do Kenan and Kel have anything to do with each other? Thought they were like Martin and Lewis in full feud mode.

They revived All That, and Kenan and Kel are both involved in that (though I don't think they've actually appeared together).
