It was digitally recreated with his actual voice. A 91 year old isn't likely to drive to Disney to record new lines.

yeah, I mean it's a nasty body slicing laser gate set up by the Empire. clearly Empire lackeys would have the on/off key, and regular folk wouldn't. Not too tough to figure out why he'd destroy it if he easily had the chance.

Vader has been threatening people's lives if they didn't complete the task of finding him (which apparently has been going on for years). You think it's perfectly normal he'd just stand there and watch a droid slowly help Obi away after finally finding him? It clearly wasn't that easy to find him the 1st time.

....oh, and remember that time you rescued me and we had a big adventure and you made float like I always wanted to.
That memory would be prominent for a child.

Vader has PTSD with fire, he couldn't cope.....and he also hates sand. What the hell was he doing chasing Kenobi around in the desert? Kenobi obviously outsmarted him luring him out there.

Maybe Obi-Wan will do some kind of Force mind wipe on Leia so she doesn't remember her time with him. While he's at it, he could implant the the memory of Leia's real mother so they can explain how she remembered her in ROTJ.

The Inquisitor guy with the disc shaped helmet is totally doing a Batman Voice. I didn't notice that in the initial 2 episodes but it was obvious in this episode. It made me wonder if Christian Bale was doing his voice (he isn't, but the thought crossed my mind).

The whole thing is really underwhelming. Bad acting, cliche dialog, clumsy scenes, forgettable music, grown men running after an annoying little kid. I can't imagine this is the series Ewan envisioned as he thought about returning to the character over the years. He deserved much better.

I’m just watching episode 1 and giggled at how they re-edited the OT bits and made it seem like it was good.
I don’t follow or care about Star Wars like I do the MCU. But I enjoy these shows. They’re all about the same to me.

I’m enjoying the show thus far. Then again I didn’t hate The Book of Boba Fett either (liking this more though). It’s not exactly the same scope as a movie, but it is a series on Disney+. Still damn good though.
The Vader stuff was awesome. Loved seeing his power but at the same time I liked how with Obi-Wan he was clearly just playing mind games.
My main complaint is circling back to Leia being captured again.

Watched all three tonight and generally enjoyed this. A beaten and broken man, living in the desert doing a monotonous job- totally believable.
Leia being an obnoxious and precocious brat but still pretty clever? Yeah, I can buy that. And for anybody saying she looks too young, remember how small Carrie was compared to the rest of the cast of the OT. Leia is just a small statured person.
And I hate to keep opening the can of warms about Reva and her actress, but I’m not seeing this high caliber actress that so many of her fellow actors are calling her. No excuse for racist attacks, but she’s not giving a standout performance so far.

I don’t think Reva is particularly bad or good on the show. Either way the amount of hate being given to the actress is ridiculous and totally uncalled for.

This. If I didn't have access to the internet, I'd have no idea people thought she was terrible and single-handedly destroying the show. She's fine - just like most actors on TV shows are fine. On the bell curve she's right in the middle.

The racist hate is absolutely vile and completely unforgiveable. Full stop.
The character could be better written and directed. Some of her line readings don't land for me, and I know Moses Ingram is a very talented actor from other roles. It's also a little off putting that the other Inquisitors are these totally sinister looking alien beings whereas she is "just" an attractive black woman with braids and a haughty sneer. Using the "dark side" of the Force affects your appearance over time (veins, red/orange eyes, paleness, etc.) so I wonder if that ties into her overall story arc.
But I would agree that of all the characters introduced thus far, she is one of the least interesting.
As for the episode itself, my reaction was kind of love/hate. I loved how Vader kept torturing and killing townspeople to draw Obi-Wan out. He is without a doubt a force of unrepentant terror and evil. The way he was toying with Obi-Wan, a broken man whose connection to the Force has been almost completely severed, was a perfect throwback to ESB. Vader WANTED him to feel scared, to feel pain, to suffer, to be humiliated, to be toyed with and then flayed alive.
The resolution -- the fire wall from a single gunshot -- wha? Fear of fire is one thing I guess, but you need to establish that to make it "a thing". A quick flashback to Anakin screaming in flames would have made that scene work a little more.
On the other hand, imagine a scene where Vader simply either walks through or floats OVER that flame wall and slowly advances on a gravely injured Obi-Wan and a terrified looking Rebel agent... and the screen cuts to black, roll credits.
That would have been something.
I do like Young Leia a lot though. She's amazing

Didn't they show Anakin remembering burning alive at the beginning of the episode?
