Speaking of Gina Carano, she had quite the reception at the Orlando Megacon, which validates that the fans still lover her.

It’s unfortunate that she’s getting hate her skin color.

But it is also unfortunate that Disney and others will label people like me, who say she’s an awful actress, where her scenes are fucking cringe, are racists and sexist.

Like every criticized character before, the actor is doing a professional job. (I don't see anything "special" about her, including Queen's Gambit, but that's another discussion) They are just being written and directed poorly... and that ultimately falls on the director imo.

Is anyone surprised fans in Orlando would still love her?

Well... with the Disney/Twitter machine working overtime during all that drama, it sounded like she was damaged goods.

Not with the 70 million or so people who agree with her statements.

Looks like I'm in the (ahem) minority, as I enjoyed this show very much. Mini-Leia's "spunk" did annoy me a little, but that's about it. It's sill way above Boba Fett for me, but then that also is not a very high bar.

You know what actually in retrospect bothered me the most about the first episode? We twice saw Obi-Wan slice and presumably steal a chunk of "sashimi" to give to his space camel. I, and probably most others, assumed we were seeing this because he was going to get caught and in trouble for this thievery. But nope, it's just a weird narrative choice.

The way they kept focusing on his actions, I was just waiting to see him get caught. Why else would they have shown that twice, weird choice indeed.

So I guess Obi-Wan doesn't remember owning a droid since he buried his in the sand.

I believe to show the monotony and redundancy of his day to day.

Hey, if we can put up with Natalie Portman's performances without harassing her and attacking stuff about her not related to her acting... then yall can sure as fuck deal with Ingram's in the same way. or can you?

You white dudes who claim to not be racist or sexist have an obligation to call and shut down the actual racist and sexist white dudes who make Star Wars and other fandoms Toxic piles of shit. Realize that you, who claim to not be racist or sexist, are paying the price for those who are. You cant say shit about an actor not white without some saying your are racist or sexist. Right?

But hey, i get it...talking about and dealing with racism and sexism day in and day out is tiresome

As for Gina C. All you have to do is go over to the politics section here and you can see how many assholes show their real sides when anyone speaks of Pandemic matters in anything but a Mainstream manner. So no shock Disney didn't defend her.

I actually thought she did a fine job, and don't really understand why people are hating on her (other than, well, the racists of course)

I though the Third Sister character was interesting. I don't know Star Wars lore at all so it got my wondering exactly what the heck happened she was so obsessed with finding him she'll resort to just about anything. I didn't have a problem with the acting.. she was playing an obsessed hunter. I thought she played it fine.

Heartfelt, genuine, fantastic support from not only the lead but a producer of the series.(miles better than the Lucasfilm intern's social media tweet) We are minutes away from Episode 3, I suppose any carry over conversation can happen there, but the story has played itself out. Let's hope the series is good enough going forward.

Me too. She was in like 5 scenes over two episodes and the “fans” have already deduced everything about her is terrible. I don’t get it - she did a fine job.

And the harassment and threats shouldn’t be dismissed as outliers - “Star Wars” has a long history of toxic fandom.

If you read through this thread, you'll see that most people who posted actually thought that her character was awful. I guess we're just a big bunch of racists here.

As did nearly everyone, the problem is the character is terrible. The writers and directors are repeatedly hanging these actors out to dry with how horribly they're being presented. It's not fair to them at all, they are taking a high profile job and the creative higher ups are failing them.

That's quite the snap judgement for a few minutes of screentime.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi (S1E01&E02) - "Part I" & "Part II" - 5/27/22

It occurred me part of the problem with Ingram’s performance could be her accent. I think we’re all conditioned to hearing very proper and usually British accents from the villains in SW, and Ingram’s delivery has sounded like her Baltimore roots are sneaking into the delivery. And no I’m NOT trying to say she sounds “ghetto”. Just saying that for a character who clearly grew up in the Jedi temple around surely constant formal language, and now works for the Empire, her delivery doesn’t seem to match that background.

Well, one thing is for sure -- Obi-Wan is using the training he got from Liam Neeson, going on a mission to rescue his "daughter" using his particular set of skills.

Maybe it was the way I worded it, but I wasn't suggesting anyone in here was a racist for not liking her performance. I just meant it's obvious why racists don't like her, but I didn't see why the non-racists had a problem with her. Hope that clears it up, lol
