I like when Obi Wan made her change her outfit.
”Everyone here is looking for an old bearded man in a Jedi cloak with a precocious little girl wearing a red jacket. Now all they will see is an old bearded man in a Jedi cloak with a precocious little girl in a green jacket. Getting back to Alderon will be a breeze now!”.

Yeah, it's the ol' "no one must know I'm a Jedi...so I'll dress exactly like one."

ha.

that’s what my son said as Ben was leaving Tattooine.

the inquisitors have not translated well to live action.

Leia is cute but too chatty.

hopefully we don’t have to watch anymore clunky scenes of her running away.

great to see Ewan as OWK again.

This show had so many poorly written parts -- you guys have already re-hashed them all. I found the first two episodes ok or less than average. Hell, I fell asleep for a few quick seconds during both episodes. I hope the story picks up because we only have 4 more episodes and we shouldn't get filler or nonsense unless you're going to create more than 6 episodes.

BTW -- can Disney please stop giving us incredibly smart and physically gifted children who outsmart adult captors? The scene where the kidnapper ran into the tree branch was embarrassing.

Ewan was at Star Wars celebration over the weekend and they were charging a $300 fee for his autograph. I heard it sold out within 1 hour. The hardcore fans will pay anything.

Why on earth would they give the main black woman such a shit role? Or is this Moses person bad in other stuff?

How can we say it's a shit role when we know so little about their backstory?

And of course anyone who says they like her, the cynics will probably just call them Star Wars shills who like everything

It's a new character and from the looks of Moses' past work, she has a light resume. The most notable role she has worked on was the Queen's Gambit.

and apparently Moses has been getting a lot of racist DMs on her social media. That's pretty pathetic and shows that Star Wars has a lot of shit fans like what happened with Kelly Marie Tran.

Moses shared some of the racist DMs on her Instagram Story

I'm not talking about all the racist meatbags; they're not worth my time. The character introduction was lacking but at least give them time to build her out. Her backstory could end up being very compelling even though her motives are not currently clear.

I think the fans don't find her to be that great of an actor and the delivery for most of her lines is pretty cringe. As stated earlier in the thread, if you had someone like Danai Gurira in the role it would probably be a different outcome.

I didn't mind her at all in this. Her character just obsessed, an Inspector Javert-type. And she was great in The Queen's Gambit, and got an Emmy nomination in the role.

Telling viewers to not be racist is "completely gone"?

The disdain it has for the fans, hell the OT itself... they'd get rid of it in a nanosecond if they could. Instead, they'll continue to diminish it s much as they can... using series like this. Wish Ewan had said no...

I don't see disdain for fans at all -- certainly nothing to do with that Tweet you posted and asked "Is that real?". What was your issue with the Tweet?

I feel like they are lumping the racists and those that actually have valid issues with the character/story all in the same group.

It reads like a parody. At best it's the laziest form of corporate activism.

I can see someone feeling that way, but if they felt the need to Tweet that out, I can only imagine some really ugly racist things must have been coming her way online.
They don't tweet out defensive things for other, more poorly received performances.

They didn't say anything when Gina Carano was being harassed and getting death threats on Twitter.

Agreed.

Honestly.. I hope they provide the same level of support Moses is getting to Diego Luna when Andor premieres.

Yep, make no mistake they wanted that. They're all for employees expressing themselves and being activists, provided it's for the approved cause. But make fun of pronouns and be critical of lockdown policies - unacceptable!

Every company has DEI activists.(including mine) ..they do nothing but complain about every perceived slight. The higher ups need to push back.(preferably fire them) But as for Lucasfilm, it looks the inmates are running the asylum for now.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi (S1E01&E02) - "Part I" & "Part II" - 5/27/22

I have a hunch Moses Ingram is more than capable of playing this role... I also have a hunch that's she's playing a brooding, myopic maniac because that's what her Director instructed her to do. Remember how goddam bad Samuel L Jackson and Hayden Christiansen were? I mean, Star Wars has some history of making totally competent actors look like caricatures and cardboard boxes... then you compound it with Disney doing what Disney does and you get a nice bag of shit.

Edit: and while it sucks that Ingram is getting racist feedback, that is NOT the issue. Those people are human trash. The issue is she's a poorly written character (so far). Debra Chow, to my knowledge, has not received negative feedback... but then again, her character has kicked all kinds of ass.
