I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I wonder how many of the stunts Bridges did in the first episode. Heís 72 and his character took a beating in that first episode. It looks like they are only doing one episode per week from now on. Only five more episodes.

Jesus I didn't even recognize Alia Shawkat at first.

I could be way off, but I think
Spoiler:
Alia Shawkat’s character is Emily (Dan’s daughter)

It’s pure speculation on my end, but I spoilered it in case I’m right.

The voices didn't seem to match up, but seems like a twist that make sense.

I really liked the first episode.

Enjoyed the first two as well. It got better for me as it went along. A few times I wondered if there's enough material here that wouldn't have been served better in a movie but we do get plenty of character moments. Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow are two of my favorite people. Not just good actors but really cool people so great to see them especially after Jeff's health problems. I expect we'll eventually get some scenes with the two of them together. I also think the actors they got for the flashbacks are good too. Curious to see how this develops.

I liked the car fight though the car barreling silently out of nowhere was a bit of a joke. The guy he was fighting just wouldn't quit. When the dogs showed up I was hoping he'd say enough and live for another day.

I still-framed Amy Brennaman's driver's license and she's playing 60 (she's actually 58).

He is playing an old man. I thought he did a good job of accentuating how some older people talk and move..

SO hard for me not to see her as Maeby Funke ("Marry me!"), but I thought she did a nice job. Loved the first two eps., just some real great acting and compelling stuff.

that police pullover scene caught me off guard. i didn't realize it was just a mini dream/scenario sequence and thought he had really shot
Spoiler:
Brenneman

which would have made sense, but it was so unexpected and jolting bc
Spoiler:
i saw her promoting this and then for that to happen i was like whaaa?

thankfully didn't happen but such great story telling and i can't wait for more of this show.

The first 15-20 minutes of this show is terribly depressing.

So he is still doing the marble mouth speaking thing?
I on,y watched the first 15 minutes last night but it was late and too depressing for me to watch so late but I only noticed his mush mouth talking a little bit.

Re: The Old Man (FX) -- S: Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow, Amy Brenneman -- Premieres 6/16/22

While watching the first episode I thought the writers were going to make me do some work with the back story and I'll have to be a little patient to get answers to some of the questions I had about what was happening.

Then after it was done I realized what I watched was the second episode, not the first.

Yes. From almost not in episode 1 to heavily in episode 2. It's jarring and annoying - but not enough to skip the show. I do think it's good, and so is he in every other way.

I wouldn't consider him "marble-mouthing" in this. When he does that, it sounds like he's speaking with no teeth - so the words would come out all mushy sounding. He does that in True Grit.
His real voice has gotten rougher the last 10 years. He sounds the same in this as he does in interviews.

Spoiler:
I guess the only remaining question is whether she's Dan's daughter or Hamzad's.

Fun episode. I was like that was way too fast for that hitman to die...

Also was that Jessica Parker Kennedy playing the girl getting on the bus? If so, that seems like a pretty familiar actress for just a bit part.

I think the full season trailer already spoiled what is not in the trunk. Really digging this show.
