Currently watching the first season of Landman and liking it so far. I typically don't find Taylor Sheridan TV stories or their characters particularly likable, but this has enough sharp dialogue to keep me interested.

There is a Landman thread for season 1 if you wish to contribute more thoughts.

Sheridan leaving Paramount for NBCUniversal when his deal ends in 2028.

Sheridan’s deal with Paramount is still 3 years away from ending. Most of his remaining series on P+ will likely be ending by then.

And everything that's still going on, can go on with him as a producer. Ryan Murphy still has shows on FOX and FX, although he signed the biggest deal with Netflix, the same counts for Shonda Rhimes. It's still a gut punch for Paramount since his shows are big hits and now he is developing for Universal.

The deal is reportedly 8 years and a billion dollars. Wow

Insane but modern Hollywood has to pay through the nose for proven creative talent known for making hits. I think many execs today don't trust younger showrunners, as many will flush money down the drain with no recourse. I just saw Amazon quit developing a Tomb Raider show even after spending like $40 million on it before the pilot stage. I can't imagine how bad development must have looked like.

Yellowstone must have been hugely profitable.

Amazon didn't quit Tomb Raider. They just announced Sophie Turner as the lead.

I don't really get it. Shonda Rhimes got half a billion and while Bridgerton is a success, I don't think she's made Netflix that kind of money.

It may have been another videogame property, I wasn't that keyed into a show I didn't care about.

I think you are referring to Rings of Power. But the story is that they will owe $40 million to the Tolkien estate if they decide to cancel season 4 and 5 of the series.
