I’ve never heard of Caitlin Bassett. One look at IMDB tells me why.

EXCLUSIVE: There is behind-the-scenes shakeup on NBC’s new drama series Quantum Leap starring Raymond Lee. Martin Gero, who has served as EP on the project since the development stage, has stepped in as new showrunner. Dean Georgaris also has joined the series as executive producer on the reboot of the popular 1990s sci-fi drama. Gero is taking over showrunning duties for Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, who wrote the pilot and will remain on the show as executive producers.
Gero and Georgaris are both experienced showrunners with multiple series under their belts; both are under overall deals at Universal Television, the studio behind the Quantum Leap reboot.
The change comes after the series has shot the first two episodes after the pilot, I hear. As Deadline reported in May, at the time of the Quantum Leap‘s pickup to series NBC was not entirely happy with the pilot. I hear the pilot will still air but not as the series’ opening episode; word it that it may be Episode 3.
The reasons for the showrunner shakeup are not entirely clear. There has been chatter about scripts being late but I hear Quantum Leap, which is on the fall schedule, has a very, vey tight production schedule, which puts pressure on everyone involved. Because of how tight things are, filming will continue without a pause following the showrunner change, I hear. Word is NBC brass are happy creatively with what they are seeing. Gero and Georgaris’ new roles bring a steady, experience hand to a challenging production that aims to deliver on the high expectations for the classic title’s reboot in a super tight time frame.

That doesn’t sound good. I’d imagine the pilot is meant to give backstory on the status of the program and Dr. Beckett. Changing the episode order gives me serious Firefly vibes. Hopefully they can sprinkle in some scenes or exposition to fill the gap.
On a related matter, I don’t recall seeing any network upfront trailers for the year. Did that not happen or perhaps I just missed everything this year.

NBC and ABC didn't release any trailers. But, Quantum Leap went through late reshoots, so I can understand why they had nothing.

The showrunner thing sounds more like a reshuffling of duties. I don't think it's so much the studio hates what they've seen so far as they want to get the right people in the right positions and avoid overruns and extra costs.

So this comes out in about 4 weeks and I haven’t seen a trailer. There’s been a few 15-20s “commercials”, but nothing of substance. Maybe they’re trying a buildup campaign over the weeks leading up to the launch?

So is God pulling the strings in this one too?
I thought it was kind of weird the first series actually went there.

So how do you show the episodes out of order and do the correct "Oh boy!" tease at the end of each one?

Kind of. For nearly the entire show Sam seemed to believe that "God or Fate or Time" was leaping him. In the final episode, Mirror Image, he meets what can be assumed to be God who tells Sam that Sam has always been in control of his leaping and he could have gone home whenever he wanted to. Instead of doing so, Sam decided to put right something he didn't do in a past leap and keeps on leaping. At least that's what I got out of it.

This is correct. Assumptions and implications. No confirmations though.
Sam: Who are you?
Al the Bartender: [shrugs] Bartender.
Sam: Who knows everything?
Al the Bartender: Only God knows everything.
[he laughs at Sam's suspicious face]
Al the Bartender: You don't really think I'm God, do you?
Sam: You're not just a bartender.
Al the Bartender: No, that's true. I own the place, too.
They definitely played it up a bit, but in the end he does let on that Sam is responsible for his own leaps. Hell, it could even be super meta given the bar was modeled after Bellesario's dad's bar. So Al the Bartender could be Donald Bellisario who would know everything and was Sam's creator.
At the end of the day it was always "God, fate, time or whatever," for 5 seasons. That didn't change in the finale either. It's all left up to the viewer.

I mean, we know for a fact that the creators of the universe was directing Sam's leaps. Those creators were the writers of the show (and thus, that universe). So that's canon! God did it!

Looks fine enough, but I didn't really like the vibe of it being an ensemble cast show (the cut to the future with a team of people working to help out Sam (i guess, ben now)). Maybe it's not a big part of the show, will just have to see.

It is literally in the description of the show posted in this thread...
It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

Plenty of opportunity to bump into Sam during a jump for sweeps week!
Honestly, if this series ends by bringing Sam home, I’ll consider it a huge success.
