Maybe Harrison can go find Astor and Cody now. They are his half siblings after all. Or maybe Rita's mother. Was she still alive at the end of the series? Did Astor and Cody go to live with her or Paul's parents?

Yeah, Astor and Cody went with Paul's parents. It's random that I remember that a dead character's dead ex husband's parents are the guardians of Dexter's abandoned step children, yet I probably forgot most of the major plot points from season 5 onward.

It would have been better if Kurt had still been around after Angela confronts Dexter about her suspicion. Angela still calls Angel who is then on his way. Dexter takes Angela to Kurt's bunker where Kurt surprises them and kills Angela when he knows he's been caught. Dexter and Harrison can then kill Kurt. The next morning, Dexter and Harrison are leaving town as they cross paths with Angel briefly but Dexter escapes. Maybe Harrison gets stuck with Angel or still goes off with Dexter. The next season would be Angel hunting down Dexter.

Interesting that Angel and Angela are just a one letter difference. Coincidence?

It would have been nice if Harrison told Angela that she doesn't have to worry about looking for Kurt. Now she'll never have closure on that front.

They really should've killed him off in the original series, so what they did was just correcting a fuck up (while still fucking up a few new things )

The problem with having a season of Dexter being on the run is that it really gets away from what the show is about.
He's a serial killer who plots to kill murderers and then tries to cover his tracks afterwards. Concentrating on him being a fugitive wouldn't be all that interesting with this character.

She figured out Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher, a serial killer who killed criminals. Dexter told her where to find the tomb. It's not a stretch to figure out, what happened to Kurt.

Not all that surprising. I’m betting now the Showtime executives are wishing Dexter wasn’t dead. I can only imagine they’re thinking about spin-off ideas.

Yeah Showtime is definitely kicking themselves considering how little popular content they have right now.

What exactly does Showtime have now that's getting decent ratings?

I think Billions gets just enough ratings to keep it going, but it's not a major draw I don't think. Plus with Lewis gone, it may suffer.
City on a Hill? I'm not sure anyone is watching it. Do we even have a discussion this forum?

Yellowjackets? Not watching so I can't even comment on the quality.

Not seeing anything else on their site that looks very popular.

Why do I get the feeling that Dexter is somehow still alive now?

I will say, that thought had crossed my mind, as ridiculous as it would be.

Billions does pretty well but is getting long in the tooth especially with recent cast changes, Yellowjackets has proven to be very popular, and Black Monday exists and I like it but I'm guessing it won't be back for Season 4.

Are there any non-sports shows on any channels that actually get great ratings nowadays?

Not in Live ratings, but in time delayed and streaming combined yeah. Well, an exception is Yellowstone, that one kills it in live ratings even excluding everything else.

Ie: Dexter this season only pulled about 600k viewers live per week on the Showtime TV channel, but over the course of the week did a solid 8 million+ per episode primarily via on Demand and streaming.

I still in the back of my mind wish that we could retcon seasons five through eight (and now New Blood) and continue on from the finale of season four. There would need to be a time jump, but erase all the stupid crap and give us a couple more good seasons, and then end it.

And then people would just complain the “retconned” seasons sucked and they shouldn’t have bothered.

Speaking of what Showtime has left, the Ray Donovan movie is Friday. Hopefully that one can stick the landing, and then its gone for good.

I mean who knows. Probably you’re right, but I think most of the problems with New Blood stemmed from the fact that they were pigeonholed by choices made in seasons five through eight.

The Deb revelation about Dexter should have happened differently. Also Deb shouldn’t have died. LaGuerta could have died, but her death should have been investigated.

It’s not like they’re going to do a retcon anyways. That’s just my fantasy to make a better version of the show.

In a few years, they'll probably do reboots or revivals of Shameless and Homeland.

Maybe Harrison didn't deliver a fatal shot and Dexter survived.

He plead guilty to everything, and now he's serving life in Florida.

There's a new serial killer on the scene -- possibly part of a cult of serial killers -- and Dexter becomes the FBI and Miami Metro's Hannibal Lecter.

Dexter is content to be locked up behind bars where he can't hurt anyone and aiding the hunt for the killers, but he receives some information that Harrison might be either captured by the cult, or is a part of it, and starts to plan his escape...

DEADLINE: In the finale, Dexter is shot by Harrison and he is bleeding out, but the viewer doesn’t see he’s definitely dead. Can you confirm so there is no doubt left?

PHILLIPS: I have three words for you: Dexter is dead. I wouldn’t do that to the audience. It would be dishonest. Here, there is no question that this is the finale of Dexter. Dexter is dead.

I'm surprised Hall didnt want to squeeze a few more seasons out. Looking at IMDb, hes working, but hes not busy.
