Definitely shakey from that point forward. I kind of like season seven. Season six isn’t the greatest, and season eight as a whole is pretty terrible (not just the original series finale).

Yeah, no idea how they ever came up with the name Lumen. Not a bad character though.

It's a real name. It means light. A bit on the nose.

Even though I kind of felt like this is where they were headed (Dexter training in Harrison), I've enjoyed it a lot, esp. the stuff w/Kurt. He was a great bad guy. Pretty interested to see how the season (hopefully not series) wraps up.

Kurt would have been a better bad guy played out over a few seasons with less appearances in each season. He could have been the reason for many missing girls throughout part of a series run. Instead, he gets jammed into a revival series as another serial killer that Dexter happens to have been living among for lord knows how long. Do we even get an idea as to how long Dexter has been living in this town before the events of this series? Also, Kurt is obviously modeled after real life serial killer Robert Hansen. He would fly women out to Alaska in his plane and then hunt them down.

One problem with Dexter in a small town like Iron Lake is I don’t see how many people he can really kill. I doubt there are that many serial killers there in the first place, and those who would get killed would probably be noticed as missing. Not sure how it’s going to work out with Kurt. The excuse could be made that he’s on the run like Dexter was saying but we’ll see how that plays out.
Maybe the show is really intended as a one off season. Unless Dexter moves on to another city or ends up on the run (if he doesn’t die or go to prison).

Yeah, it was already ridiculous that there were that many serial killers in Florida for Dexter to kill. But it gets way too coincidental that there happens to be one in a small town of less than 3,000 people.
And it would be beyond ridiculous if the show continues in the same location and he has to deal with another murderer, nevermind serial killer. If the show goes on for another season, he has to be in a different and much larger city to make his new conflicts believable.
Also, does Dexter still have a job?

One thing I just remembered. Did anyone catch Dexter's line "I could go for a damn fine cup of coffee" and instantly think Twin Peaks? I was wondering if that was an intentional homage given the small town setting with serial killers and sheriffs.

That's why I asked. He's running around at all hours of the day/night, so it's not that we're just seeing him to his Dexter stuff before/after work.
