That's not how the bopper rule works. For example if Ryan from Ryan and Dusty is replaced with Cord from The Cowboys aka a new player this season then the teams that drafted Ryan and Dusty now have Ryan and Cord.

The Bopper rule is from when Bopper & Mark were originally set to compete in The Amazing Race: All-Stars, but Bopper was deemed unfit by the medical team due to showing signs of pancreatitis before the race began. Mark was eventually paired with The Amazing Race 17 and The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business racer Mallory Ervin, who was flown in as a last-minute replacement for Bopper. So if you drafted Mark and Bopper originally you now have Mark and Mallory. Edited to add: The Bopper rule doesn't apply to completely new teams. Just if one player from one team is replaced.

This is what I’m trying to figure out. My hope is that the race will resume with 7 teams. The 2 added teams could be the Singing cops and/or Arun & Natalia. If both teams return, then there’s no need for the Bopper rule which would only apply if 1 or more new teams enter the race..

Yes it does. If Mark and Bopper had been replaced by Mallory and Gary, I would have handled it the same way.

Ok. It should reworked then, because it's not written that way currently. It just says contestant and not contestants or teams.

That's a good point, I was assuming the race was going to resume with 9 teams. Do we even know the race with resume with 7 teams, was that said by Phil? Could it resume with 5?

The problem is that we will know which teams old/new/mix are in the run just an hour before someone likely gets eliminated, so you can't sit down and look at the new configuration and then decide what's going to happen before an elimination happens.

You’re right, the wording is singular, but I meant 1 or both members of the team. One more reason why I hope the Bopper rule isn’t needed.

not only that, but I’m in the Pacific time zone, so any surprises won’t get to me until later.

I hadn’t really thought about hybrid teams. All I can think to do would be to combine them and split prize money.

for example, Ryan and Lulu team up because Dusty and Lala can’t continue, then lwhy? And Goldberg74 will share them in game one and JuryDuty and dfmaverick2 will share them in game two.

If there are hybrid teams a 4 way split of the $110 pot is more than fair. $27.50 to each winner if they win.

I was assuming that 7 teams were going to return and 2 would not due to Covid or other conflicts. If they add 2 teams they would resume with 9. I don’t remember where I got this idea. All I can say is that I haven’t read any spoilers.

Now I have to go to Paramount+ and rewatch the ending.

I’m starting to think that running this game this season was a mistake.

Eh whatever you decide works. Don't stress yourself out. I think it makes it more interesting. When have we ever had a 4 team elimination in one episode. But it'll be fine watch the episode decide what's going to happen from then on and it'll be fine.

BTW that promo gives it all away (well, almost). Pretty much spells it all out. I'm surprised TAR put out a promo like that and didn't do it as a surprise at the beginning of episode 3 vs. doing it at the end of episode 2. Stop right before announcing the break and just end with the elimination and then start episode 3 with we are going to take a break, then we're back, etc.

OK, I replayed the ending and the promo for next week.

Five teams are returning, Phil announced some “familiar faces” would join them. Seven teams appear in a wide shot when Phil announces “Go!”

We can only assume that the Singing Cops and Arun & Natalia are the familiar faces. The ownership of these teams was already decided in the drafts. This means that whoever drafted the 4 COViD eliminated teams are out.

If they are not, the Bopper rule wasn’t designed to handle multiple substitutions, so if the 2 replacement teams are “familiar faces” from previous seasons; say for example the original Twinnies and Cowboys Jet & Cord, then whoever drafted the 4 COViD eliminated teams will share the rights to the replacement teams and split any prize money equally.

I hope this covers everything, because my brain hurts!
