South Park -- event specials on Paramount+

What happened to the children who lived through the Pandemic? Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny survived but will never be the same Post Covid. Stream the Exclusive Event November 25 only on Paramount+

That big deal Matt and Trey signed for 14 movies are just these specials. The next one will be in December.
"With Viacom, we realized we could make them as long or as short as we needed,” Parker says of the upcoming projects. “And they then went and called them movies. They are the ones who said we are giving them 14 movies in seven years. All I can say is for me, personally, I am 52 years old, I have made three movies in my life. So you do the math.”

Adds Stone, “We’re trying to make what’s on Paramount+ different from anywhere else, so hourlong made-for-TV movies is where our head is at. We’ll do two made-for-TV movies every year. They will be big, but they are not quite movie scale.”

Re: South Park -- event specials on Paramount+

So are they done with traditional episodes (its now been 2 years)?

I "bought" season 24, which for iTunes, is just the two previous specials, which kind of sucks for the price.

No, it was renewed through Season 30. That is in addition to the 14 specials.

Re: South Park -- event specials on Paramount+

It's hard to tell what the fuck they're going to do going forward.

It's been renewed through season thirty, but they haven't had new episodes in two years, except for a couple of specials, which, apparently, comprise season twenty-four.

And they're also doing what looks like two yearly specials for Paramount+.

It's kind of a mess right now.

I figured the eventual payoff from Cartman would make it worthwhile, but it's gonna be another fuckin' Tegrity Farms wankfest.

I enjoyed the first covid special and it was the first south park I had seen in a very long time. I'll check these out at some point.

So they just decide when to release new seasons, like Curb? The show should be easy to produce during COVID, given its animation, can be done in a few days, and minimal voice actors. It's been 2 years since a traditional season. Just seems weird to renew a show for 6 more seasons with zero to show for

“We only take Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies cause, it is the future, and we all decided centralized banking is rigged and trust more fly-by-night ponzi schemes”

I didn’t think it was that bad, but I don’t think they can make anything anymore that doesn’t include the Tegridy farm.

Re: South Park -- event specials on Paramount+

They had said COVID cut their production since they mainly met up together to work on ideas, hence why the output since then has been slow. Need to rewatch all the redone HD episodes in order anyways.

Liked it a lot more than the 2nd special but the 1st is still the best, IMO.

Can't wait to find out what Butters is locked up.

He finally became a real super villain lol.
I don't care for these specials. At this point everyone on the SP team should be vaccinated so there's no excuse to not have a traditional season.

Re: South Park -- event specials on Paramount+

We haven't kept up with the show much, their libertarian leanings get a bit irksome after a while, but then they'll make a delightfully stupid joke that just makes me laugh and I'll keep watching.

We watched the post COVID special and I thought it was pretty good. Most of the character progressions seemed to be pretty logical, though I kept waiting for the shoe drop with Cartman.

And I absolutely loved all the BladeRunner riffs, especially Stan's virtual Alexa/wife.

To regular viewers: is this the first time the characters have been depicted as adults/such a fast forward has happened? Aside from possible dream sequences etc.

I thought Kenny died when he was still a kid. How can he be an adult in this?

There have been a lot of explanations over the years, but the most recent is from "Coon vs. Coon & Friends" where it's explained that Kenny is reborn after each of his deaths and placed in his bed, wrapped in his orange parka, and wakes up the next morning, fully grown, in the same condition he was in before he died, due to some cult rituals his parents participated in:
https://southpark.fandom.com/wiki/Ke...d_Series_Canon

So it's quite possible that adult Kenny will come back from being killed too.
