The review on Collider was positive, saying the show is a fun effortless watch. Not sure I agree that this series might be better than the first season of That 70s Show, which I seem to remember had a very solid first season, but I really look forward to starting it up this evening.

I really wanted to love this like the original but while it had a few really funny moments but i powered through all 10 episodes, it's just another useless Hollywood reboot that didn't need to be made in my opinion.

The first episode was cute. It was nice to see Eric and Donna again. The new young cast seems fine. The sassy new best friend and the little Asian kid are pretty annoying though. The girl who played Leia and the boys (Sassy girl’s brother and Kelso) were all good.

The “circle” camera at the upstairs table made me laugh and Eric turning into his dad was the best part of the episode.

The laugh track was terrible and almost felt like it was parodying laugh tracks.

I’ve really never watched much of That ‘70s Show so I don’t have the nostalgia factor. Having said that my fiancιe and I watched the first four episodes of That ‘90s Show and I’m having fun with it. She thinks it’s just okay. We’ll probably finish the season soon.

I watched the first episode. It was good to see the original cast again. Topher Grace looks like he hasn’t aged.

The writing for the kids was pretty bad.

I wonder how they’re going to explain Hyde’s absence.

I watched the first three episodes. It's great to see the old characters again, and the kids get a little better in each episode. It's pretty much what I expected.

I'll watch at least two more tomorrow, and be done with the season in about 5 days, total. I hope we get a couple more seasons. It's fun.

I am part-way into the third episode and enjoying this continuation of the That 70s Show universe. I will have to read the review that gave the show a D, but perhaps the reviewer was hoping this show would be something entirely different than what they ended up watching, because I have seen some sitcoms on Netflix, and even fairly recent sitcoms thrown up on the network TV channels, that were way worse than this one.

This show is not important or heavy, it is just designed to be something you can watch by yourself or with your family and not cringe much at what you are watching. Yes, the acting by the kids is a bit rough at times, but again, nothing so bad that I yelled at my tv that I am out. I have done this with a handful of Nickolodean, or Nick type shows, some that are actually quite beloved by the folks that grew up watching them, but there would be an actor or actress (sometimes a young actor who just got on my nerves anytime the focus was on them) that just had me saying to myself I can't deal with this and stopped watching. It does not help that I was well into my 40s watching and not the target audience of Nick shows, lol. Things that would not annoy kids such as an actor screaming out their line delivery, drove me nuts.

Anyway, I love that this will be a quick watch as I also focus on getting into Torchwood and Harley Quinnn's animated series on HBO Max.

ETA: Cannot believe I did not mention Red and Kitty Forman, they are wonderful on this show and it great to see them back on my TV screen.

Watched the first two episodes. With the exception of Leia, and maybe the girl next door - I'm not liking the other kids. They come off as kids in a nickelodeon show with their acting.

Eric definitely looks like he hasn't aged. That may be partly due to him having the same haircut/wig from the 70s. Even his clothes don't look much different either.

Red and Kitty are carrying this show.

I'm impressed that they found a kid who looks just like a young Ashton Kutcher and another kid who looks like Topher Grace and Laura Preppon had a baby.

It's bene forever since I watched That 70s Show, so I can't remember how strong the first season of that was compared to this, but I'm three episodes into this reboot and enjoying it enough to keep watching. They definitely seem to have captured the same sensibility as the original.

I only watched a handful of episodes of the original series. So if the series ended at the very end of the 1970's and the new show takes place in 1995, doesn't that mean that the characters got pregnant/ had children month after the show ended for their children to be 15 in 1995?

Not even, because this takes place in the summer of 95. It doesn't make sense that Eric & Donna and Kelso and Jackie have children this age by the summer of 95. But the show, like most sitcoms, always played it loose with the timeline.

So, Ashton and Mila's son lives right down the road from Red and Kitty and they've never crossed paths with him or had any idea who his parents were. It also seemed like they haven't seen Ashton's and Mila's character's in years which seems odd. Unless I missed something, they would be raising and living with their son, which means they would have to be living right down the street somewhere. Doesn't seem possible they would not be bumping into each other in the neighborhood or in town or at the very least not be aware what was going on in their lives at least a little bit.

That 70s Show had a wonky timeline as well.

From what I recall, that series ran eight seasons and took place between the summer of 1976 and December 1979.

It's best not to scrutinize tv timelines too much.

I wonder if they considered starting That 90s Show in 1991 with the advent of grunge music (which defined that decade more than anything; by 1995 pop culture had gone kind of bland), which really defined the decade, and just ignored the fact that the kids would have been too young.

Really, about 1991-1995 is where everything that defined the decade happened... X-Files, Pulp Fiction, Clerks, Dazed & Confused, SNES, slackers, Nirvana/grunge music, Windows 95.

All I really remember from the last half of the decade are Clinton getting his dick sucked and the Playstation. It was really front-loaded decade, much like the 70s were a backloaded decade... Star Wars, Kiss, Space Invaders, Atari VCS, the Bicentennial.

Disagree there. Middle of the decade was a bit sparse but after 96 you had the rise of east coast/west coast rap, rise of nu metal (alongside start of Ozzfest), rise of pop punk, latin invasion, boy/girl bands and Woodstock 99. In sports you had the rise in popularity of the NBA. In movies you had Matrix, Office Space, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Fight Club, all the teen comedies. Outside media you had the beanie baby craze, Columbine, and as mentioned Clinton.

As far as the show goes, I watched alot of that 70s show but think I left after Eric did. Didn't see any of the last season other than the last episode but enjoyed the original series. Didn't expect much from this but honestly really enjoyed it. Actually laughed out oud at a couple of parts. Red and Kitty carried this show but you could say they did alot of that in the original as well. One thing to keep in mind about the child actors is they are actually child actors unlike the original series. Ashton Kutcher was 20 when the series started and around 28 when it ended. Mila Kunis I think was the only one that was the age of the character at series beginning.
