That 70s Show landed well with the first round of millennials as well. It was very popular when I was in High School.

Like me.

And I'll tell you what, That 70's Show really got it about 85% right. It's pretty close to what the 70's were like.

Of course, it was so well written, the characters were so good, and the cast was so fantastic that younger AND older audiences could enjoy it. My daughter loves the show!
Not by much. My brother is 6yrs older than me which is enough to make him a Boomer and me Gen-X. He would have been the age of the original cast’s kids in the 70’s, I was born in ‘68 so I would have been 12 in 1980.

I was born in '68, too, and some of my most vivid memories are of the 70's. My stepsister was in high school starting in 1977, so I saw high school kids in that era.

They got it right, and the show was a ton of fun! (Which is why it appeals to all age groups - the characters were great, as were the scripts!)

So what band from the '90s will they get to do theme song? My guess is Soul Asylum.

I really never watched much of That 70s Show, but I think I’d like it. Might have to see if I can stream it somewhere.

No surprise that Rapey Raperson won’t return. Just have a throwaway line about Hyde spending life in prison or being killed in a bar fight. Easy peasey.

They should say that Hyde joined a cult and hasn't been in seen in years.

Will they write Red as 1990s Red or 2020s-standard Red?

January 19:

Welcome back to your favorite basement. Same Formans, new friends.

It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red.

Coming soon to Netflix. Dope.

I will be watching. Honestly, this will be worth checking out just because of Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood smith, as it seems like they brought their A game to this continuation of that That '70s Show.

The jury is still out on whether or not any time the camera focuses on the kids if there is something worth watching, but Red being his old self, and Kitty being herself means I will be viewing with an open mind.

They just turned the "new" gang into an original gang. Like, the same damn characters for kids? Are they supposed to be the 70's show characters kids?

Yeah, this looks to be a rehash instead of a continuation/evolution of the original.
They just replaced Eric with a girl and gave the gang an even amount of girls and guys.

The whole bored teenagers hanging in the basement is more identified with the 70s than 1995.

What's depressing is the distance of time between when the show aired and when it's set is longer with this new series than with the original (27 years vs. 22 years).
1995 doesn't feel all that long ago, especially when a year earlier Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction and Shawshank were released.

Don't the Formans ever realize their basement always smells like weed?

Windom, lol. Yeah, not a smoker but I had a colleague at a past job several years back who hot-boxed in his car and he said when a cop pulled him over for a carpool lane violation the officer clearly ignored the smell of weed wafting throughout his car. This was in CA, but still...nice of the cop to not bust him (he was not smoking in the car when he made the carpool violation, so that had to have helped keep the cop from hassling him further for his weed habit).

Even if they have a lot of ventilation in the Forman's basement the unmistakable smell of weed would linger and I guess it is one of those things we would just have to suspend our disbelief that the kids would not immediately be caught smoking weed in the real world, but for a tv sitcom I will just accept that a good chunk of the Forman's home did not smell like a grow house, lol!

Red caught them in the circle eventually, but it wasn't because of the smell.
Funny enough, Kitty and Red were both in the circle at least once.

They told Red they were burning incense and he believed them.

I blew up on my 18 year old daughter when she came home one day with the smell of weed all over her cloth. It took me hours to get that shit out of the house. Oh, I blew up on her because she bought the smell with her not because she tried it (which I hope was the first and last time). We haven't had that problem anymore. =)

I'll give this a watch simply for Red and Kitty. =)

100% tuning in for Red and Kitty. But I hope the rest is good too.

This looks good. No way will it be as great as That 70's Show, but, IMO, That 70's Show is an all time great, so if it falls short and is merely good, fun, and entertaining? That's enough for me. I can't wait to go back to Point Place!

It seems like a toned down version of That 70s' show... so I don't know how good it'll be. Not sure I care enough about a bunch of tweens, but its likely 10 episodes around 30 minutes, so I'll probably watch it.
