Yeah, there's definitely episodes of Buffy that are better than anything that's ever been on the CW, but this was a very good episode of Stargirl. It's definitely the best superhero show that's been on for years.

Best episode this season. 'A'
Good long fight scene between the JSA and the ISA.
The Shade knows how to make an entrance and dress in style.
Eclipso reveals himself. Looks like he step out a comic book.
My one negative is that I am tired of the Chapel Family drama. Get divorce already and treat your daughter better.

This show is so much better than Superman and Lois they’re not even in the same league. The depiction of Eclipso is one of the best I’ve ever seen of a DC villain on screen (including the movies). Puts CG Steppenwolf to shame.

-Looved seeing the team assist each other during that wild battle.
-Stargirl riding the staff around the room during the fight was awesome.
-The Shade is an interesting character here.

What I found interesting is Eclipso said Shade is afraid of him and also gets his powers from him, something I've never heard even inferred in the DCU (and I've read a lot of Starman).

Same type of Fifth dimensional being with slightly different limitations imposed on his powers. Though that is a relatively recent retcon. No one was thinking about fifth dimensional beings when the original Johnny Thunder character was using him and if I remember correctly, Pre-Crisis was a djinn from something called the Thunderbolt dimension.

They do play fast and loose with the power levels - Rick on Miraclo should easily kill a regular human with repeated blows.

Especially if he thinks he’s fighting Grundy. That guy’s head should be mush after a single blow.

Beth is a brave smart badass. Faced Eclipso head on and told him to fuck off.

Eclipso even possessed Superman at one point.

Did they recast Beth's dad from season one? I don't think it's the same actor.

I don’t think so either but her parent’s roles are so minor it doesn’t matter very much.

While its cool seeing Eclipso playing his mind games, I was disappointed that took up quiet a bit of the episode
Expecting/hoping the Original JSA flashback would be over 50% of the episode but alas it was about only 15-20%.
Cool seeing them in costumes but no action scenes, All action off camera.
Here is an interview with John Wesley Shipp.

Stargirl > Superman and Lois.

Eclipso and the horror vibe this season is really good.

Stargirl is much, much better. The writing is pretty solid, and they're dealing with adult topics, while Super and Lois is dealing with a lot of typical "CW" subject matter (teen angst, relationships, etc).

I was pleased with the opening scene between Starman and Pat.
Sly admits he is a jerk.
Also there was HOP HARRIGAN shout out. Hopefully he stopped being bully and became an ace flyer when he was an adult.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...7a330c0c63.jpg

Gentleman Ghost also got a mention.
I suspect the Helix Hospital will play a big role in Season 3.
Nice seeing Jeanie Lynn back using her Father's ring.
Thunderbolt brings Christmas in July to Blue Valley.
Shade being shady.
What happen to Harry Thomas? He played Charles McNider aka Dr. Mid-Nite in 1st season but this season McNider is played by Alex Collins.

And Grundy is just a big misunderstood pussycat.

During Starman (the Jack Knight run) when Grundy died he would usually come back with different levels of intelligence and morality. Most of the time he was just a dumb brute, but occasionally he would be intelligent and kind, or just plain evil.

So they killed the Shade...that was unexpected. It looks like we'll get Alan Scott's other kid as well.

I admit I was surprised that McNider came back to the real world.
I thought for sure he would sacrifice himself to make sure Courtney got back.
Hopefully in season 3 they give Beth her own Midnight uniform, like the one she wore in the comics.

Yeah The Shade was a layered character that maybe should've stuck around. I see lots of positive comments about him/the actor

If you go looking, some characters we've seen before have been bumped up to regulars for season three next year.

Excellent episode this week gearing up for what should be a cracker of a finale. This season has been a little slower paced than last year but I think the pandemic catches some of the blame for it. They have succeeded in making the kind of goofy Eclipso a nice Freddy Krueger-ish threat. And seeing the original Dr. Mid-Nite back - now THAT hits this JSA geek's sweet spot!

I like how Jakeem wished he had some Chinese food so the Thunderbolt took the long way around to get it.

Nerds.
