Yea it is and matter of fact if they don't bother with Atmos It's pass too. It's ridiculous a show is produced without modern standards.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
I'm sure it was shot in 4K being a new production, the issue is probably that the AMC+ app doesn't support 4k yet. For what it's worth, it looked fantastic on AMC+. But was a smeary mess on the AMC channel. Plus they edited all the (female) nudity out. Lily was topless for a good long time in the streaming version. Not so much on the cable one. I only compared that one scene but wonder what else was too much for basic cable?

Did not know stuff was edited out for TV. Don’t like that at all. |

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
I'm confused, was this show ever promised to be in 4K? I don't recall anything ever mentioned. AMC doesn't even broadcast in 4K
So this is just a blind outrage over something that was never promised or advertised from the get go. |
Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
I didn't know that the nudity was edited; however, when I watched the scene with Lily I thought the camerawork to conceal her nudity was really well done. The scene isn't about her, literally, her presence is just a smoke screen so her nudity isn't important.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Someone explain something to me about this show, please:
Based on what I saw in the first episode, it was established that Eric Bogosian's character is the older version of the Christian Slater interviewer from the Cruise/Pitt movie. This was further established by showing the bite scar on his neck from when Lestat attacked him at the end of the movie. So Louis sends him the tapes of the original interview from all those years ago, which also seem to contain the attack by Lestat at the end, if I heard correctly. Malloy goes to Louis, and they sit down for another interview, where Louis proceeds to regale him with his life story again, including how he came to be a vampire via Lestat. But... For some reason, this now happened at the beginning of this century instead of 200 years ago, and Louis is now a pimp instead of a plantation owner, as well as all the other changes which we won't get into. My basic question is, if all the events from movie have been established, including Louis telling his life story as we saw it in the movie, why and how did his story change like it did? Am I missing something? |

This new series is a complete reimagining of the novel(s) and has nothing to do with 1994 movie aside from sharing a title and main characters, and drawing inspiration from the source material. It's not intended as a sequel or continuation of that movie or storyline. |
Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Has anyone compared any more episodes to see if there are differences in the broadcast AMC episodes and the pay streamer versions?

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
I'll give the show's production design and atmosphere major kudos, far more stylish than other AMC programs.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Wow, just watched the first two episodes since the entire first season has ended and it's fantastic. They totally went from making Louis and Lestat's relationship implicit to explicit. Bogosian was also fantastic and I've yet to get to episode 3. I'm binging it now, though.
So far, it's doing enough of its own thing to distinguish itself from the source material and film, but keeping just a bit to still have identify with the property. One of the funniest scenes I was not expecting was in the first episode and it was about going in the backdoor without asking first. No, it's not what you think, but the dialogue involving it was hysterical and the actress was hilarious. Should this be released on 4K disc I will buy it. The HD stream is stellar. |

Just watched the season finale and that character is not who I thought he was. Well done.

AMC struck a deal with Warner to allow this series to have a limited run on MAX from 9/1-10/31.
Making up for lack of new content on HBO. I might have to check this one out. |

Season two started last week on AMC. The vamps are now over in Europe.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Renewed my AMC+ subscription and binged season two today. It was awesome and they did tweak events around, which was surprising but still cool. Will definitely be getting the Blu-ray set when it' released. Ben Daniels was awesome, as well.
I hope it gets a season 3, because they hinted at certain things that happen/happened in The Vampire Lestat novel. |
Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Season two was a big improvement. Actually sort of enjoyed most of this. The New Orleans drama from last season wasn't terribly interesting, but the Theatre des Vampires stuff was pretty good even if it was greatly expanded from the novel.
Hopefully next season, when they presumably adapt The Vampire Lestat, it will stick closely to the novel. The dates on Nicolas' coffin would seem to indicate this. |

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
I loved the novel "Interview with a Vampire". I read it in one sitting. I have a short attention span for novels, so if it is not good, forget me reading it. I think it was one of the best works of fiction I have ever read, along with "The Other" by Thomas Tryon. (They messed up that movie too. Unwatchable). I liked aspects of the movie Interview with a Vampire, mostly side characters, like Antonio Banderas (Armand) and Stephen Rhea (Santiago). Anne Rice wrote that book as a short story, then turned it into a novel, while she was grieving the death of her daughter, who died at age five from leukemia. I imagine it was kind of a way of coping. I have not seen any movies or series after Queen of the Damned, which was not great.

The show actually changed names. It’s now called “The Vampire Lestat”

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Since they're changing the title of the show, I wonder why they just didn't call it Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, then subtitle the seasons with the novel titles as necessary.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Normally I would request the Mod to change the thread title with a new show name.
But, this thread barely has any activity in the 3 years it's been up. I assume many of you just simply haven't gotten around to this or simply don't have anything interesting to say. That's just the case with many shows on TV these days. So, I'm just going to leave it alone. |

I haven't finished watching season 2. Maybe someday.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Opening looks great. Too bad Interview with the Vampire changed up so much from the books, I would have loved to have had a really kick-ass straight-up adaption of at least the first three books in the Vampire Chronicles.

Re: Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire (AMC) -- premieres 10/2/22
Really enjoyed Interview more than I expected to. Wish I could say the same for Mayfair Witches and Talamasca. But looking forward to this!
