Re: CSI: Vegas (CBS)
Petersen left after season 9. But came back for the original 2 hour series finale. Fox was around on and off until the end.
They managed to make it work for 6 more seasons with Fishburne, Shue and Danson as replacements and they already had a good supporting cast. I’m sure this show will bring in someone who can fill the void. I mean the good thing about this show it’s not a long 8 month commitment like most CBS procedurals with only 10 episodes.

Viewership of the spin-offs must've been dwindling pretty poorly considering they ended or cancelled all of them and had no CSI show airing for at least a few years I believe, but I admit I haven't looked into the numbers. In any event, it will be interesting to see the viewership comparisons between Season 1 and Season 2 and see if they continue into a Season 3.
Forgot about Peterson leaving 6 seasons prior to CSI's end. So you're looking at 27-ish seasons of CSI without Grissom. I wasn't a fan Miami or NY, but there's just something special about the Vegas setting and that cast. With or without Grissom & Sara, it just works for me.

There has been no official word yet from CBS or the showrunner. But I'm thinking they will stay with the same format. But, it could be possible the 1st season was designed as a short serialized season to accommodate Petersen wanting a lighter workload.

Cyber was an abject failure but Miami & New York ran 10 and 9 seasons. Most shows don't make it that long. NCIS is a comparable show, the flagship show is 19 years in while the spinoffs lasted 12 & 7 years. Very similar to CSI.

A few years prior, I use to watch daily Silk Stalkings reruns. I didn't know about CSI initially, until I came across CSI: Miami from channel surfing. Not knowing any better, I thought it was a Silk Stalkings spinoff until I realized it was a CSI spinoff.

In spite of how atrocious CSI: Cyber was, I found I liked watching how wrongheaded all the "hacking" portrayals were.

Marg Helgenberger (Catherine) is in talks to star in season 2. Not 100% certain yet.

Re: CSI: Vegas (CBS)
Interesting thing to mention about Marg's character Catherine. On the show, she had a daughter named Lindsey played by the younger sister of Danielle Panabaker named Kay. Kay was never as popular as Danielle and never got the kind of work Danielle did and she eventually retired from acting over 10 years ago.
When they brought back Marg for the CSI Finale movie in 2015, they brought back Lindsey as a CSI and recast her with another actress. I wonder if Marg does sign on, if they will bring back the daughter.

Marg Helgenberger has signed on to return to the CSI franchise. She is set to star in Season 2 of CBS’ CSI: Vegas, reprising her role as Catherine Willows from the original CSI. I hear Helgenberger will be a series regular with a one-year deal.

Wonder if that means she's out from All Rise for it's restart on OWN.
