I'm fine with them continuing on without Petersen and yeah I don't agree with some gimmicky stunt casting bringing in another previous CSI lead.

Yeah, the new cast did well enough on their own to take the reins. They're probably worried that they'll lose viewers without a "big name" attached to it. As if any of those previous actors are big names today...And I love Sinise and watched all of CSI NY.

I liked the original and was looking forward to this, but I have about 3 or 4 episodes on my DVR and I just keep skipping over them due to lack of interest.

My Mom is a big CSI fan like me and she watched and liked the season overall, but she said she's not a fan of Paula Newsome. She thinks she's an average actress at best.
I have no doubt they will hire someone to fill the void left by Petersen leaving.

Honestly wouldn't mind Sinise. Caruso though I believe is retired (his last gig was CSI: Miami), mostly because nobody wants to deal with his BS.

Re: CSI: Vegas (CBS)
I just finished the last 2 episodes of the season.
It looked like in the finale they teased a new nemesis for the 2nd season. Overall, I did like this abbreviated season. They did wrap up the Hodges arc and Grissom and Sarah can now go back to life in San Diego. The Hodges arc wasn't perfect and had some bumps in it.
I will be curious to see who they cast in season 2 to replace Grissom.

Renewed for a 2nd season, but William Petersen will not return.
Jorja Fox may return, but it's unclear right now.
I did read they may look into other CSI leads like Danson, Caruso or Sinise as possible new additions should Petersen not return.

Hey all you #CSI fans! After much deliberating, I have decided not to ‘Sidle up’ for CSI Vegas. For me CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times. (1)

Not surprised. Grissom and Sarah are married and it would be weird having her apart from him an entire season. I know they did it before in the original show and it was weird at the time. I think they explained it that he was doing lectures. But, at this point, it wouldn't really make sense. Fox hasn't done much outside of CSI and I wish her and Petersen well.

Jorja made the smart move. CBS should just pull the plug on this - I can't imagine them gaining any viewers in Season 2, and probably losing a good portion of the ones that did watch.

I can see that but I also sort of just like the CSI thing so I will continue to watch.

I can't see why they'd even bother trying to milk another season out of it if the leads, which was pretty much the entire reason for this to exist and why people tuned in for nostalgia, are all leaving.

Probably wanted season 17 for season 2 prices.

You guys act like there weren't three spin-off CSI shows NOT starring Grissom and Sidle, that ran for 20+ seasons combined. Would I love for them to return? Of course, but CSI can exist without them and will be fine.

I also didn't say or mean to infer that CSI can't exist without them. Obviously it can as it did just that for many seasons originally too. What season was it that they left? I have a feeling they were gone for half the shows run or more. We have several different characters get introduced to fill the void.
But the thing is, they brought this back on the nostalgia of having them return only to have them leave after one season and expect people to still care. I'm sure plenty will, but I'm also sure a large number of folks who tuned into Season 1 won't be returning either.
Viewership of the spin-offs must've been dwindling pretty poorly considering they ended or cancelled all of them and had no CSI show airing for at least a few years I believe, but I admit I haven't looked into the numbers. In any event, it will be interesting to see the viewership comparisons between Season 1 and Season 2 and see if they continue into a Season 3.
