That cameo -eek-

They actually added someone who's a worse dancer than Zemo to the MCU.

Spin off series idea: “When Bucky Met Sarah”

Did anyone else flinch when the shield was coming straight at you in a few shots? Overall a pretty good setup episode, I will say that this may be the one where I flat out didn't care for the direction - the constant close ups, what I felt were unnecessary camera moves - making up for a poor scene and/or low budget. They spent the money on the actions scenes for sure, but it's everything else that to me just looks cheap. We'll talk more about the series overall next wk, but my early takeaway is that there just isn't enough meat on the bone for this to be split up so much.

And at this point I just have to start thinking of the shield as a magical object, like the carpet from Aladdin. Lightweight enough to throw, powerful enough to do damage on impact, yet still catchable with someone's bare hands.

I thought this episode was excellent.

There were some beautiful shots in the beginning that looked like they could’ve been comic panels.

The JL-D cameo was great. I’m guessing she’ll have a large role in Secret Invasion?

There is a small end credit scene in case anyone missed it.

Good episode. Probably because of the minimal amount of Carly/Flag Smashers.
Looks like a sure thing Sam will get the shield now. Oh well.
I’m curious if JLD was supposed to be introduced in Black Widow. It just seemed kind of awkward here.

So when and how does Sam get the serum? Because without it, and without his wings, he just can't can't compete.

I'm assuming he gets a new uniform/outfit in that case from Wakanda. The question is whether it's just a Cap uniform, or if it's some tech left over form Stark that will give Sam what he needs to fight without the serum.

Best episode yet, by a country mile (no pun intended).

I know it's supposed to be a deliberate, Rockwellian contrast to the pomp and flair of John Walker's time as Cap (similar to the Rocky/Drago montage), but I just had to laugh at the training montage. No, you'd be needing a considerable gym to get into Avenger shape; some interval runs and push-ups aren't going to cut it. I mean, at least have a barbell for cleans. Or pull-ups for the shoulders! Those are super important for y'know, throwing things. But props to the emphasis on technique work.

I couldn't help but start giggling during that scene and I heard this in my head:

Why does the tech have to be "Stark" tech... the Wakandans seem to be lightyears ahead of anything Tony could do.

I'm sure that the new wings will be Vibranium (and possibly an alloy with Adamantium like Cap's Shield) and will have some "enhancements" built in.

Either way, I can't wait to see it.

Another mediocre episode. They just can't seem to get the pacing right. Yeah, the opening fight scene was cool and I did like Falcon talking to M.A.N.T.I.S., but nothing after that. Talk about a distracting cameo by "Elaine," too. I guess the end credit sequence is ok?

It's like I'm watching Walker turn into Snake Plissken.

So at this point, I guess Sharon isn't the Power Broker since she hired Batroc for Karli (if that's who she was on the phone with)? Trying to figure out her role in all this.

She's a Skrull. :)

Excellent point. Wakandan tech.

The fight scene between Bucky, Sam and Walker was pretty awesome. Very well choreographed and loved Walker getting his arm broken.

Wow, he's really fallen off the deep end. Especially after that tribunal that stripped him of his "Captain America" title.

I'm looking forward to seeing Sam as the new "Captain America" nice little tease with him opening the box. I did like the training montage with him learning how to use the shield. Guess "The Falcon" is permanently retired now that Sam declined to get his old suit fixed.

The JLD cameo was interesting. I had to do a rewind to be sure it was her.

Yeah that post credit scene with Walker making his own shield was interesting. He and Sam should have an interesting showdown in the finale.

Joaquin (Sam's USAF partner) is the second Falcon in the comics. I can see him showing up in the finale or stinger scene.

I wonder if there's more than a suit in the case, though. Is there also a lost vial of super serum?

Re: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (S1E05) - "Truth" - 4/16/21

Does Sam have to get the serum? Natasha and Clint had/have no super powers, and yet they were/are Avengers. Decent episode. I could have done without the domestic stuff like the boat storyline. JLD's appearance was surprising. Reminded me of Gary Shandling's appearance in the Iron Man movies because I wondered what a comedian was doing in action/adventure material. One more episode to go and then I can cancel Disney+ again... at least until Loki starts.

good episode but these D+ Marvel "cameo" teases thus far have been real fucking duds.

and looks like Sam will get his powers thru the suit. meh... would rather have it have been the serum.

Re: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (S1E05) - "Truth" - 4/16/21

I thought Russell was pretty good in this episode - both in his reactions at the hearing, and in speaking to Lemar's family (and knowing that he really didn't kill the person who killed Lemar, as they were thanking him for serving justice for their son). His expressions really worked in that setting and conveyed some good emotion.

The boat/family/training stuff was just meh, but it did at least have more of the good chemistry between Mackie and Stan.

Agreed. Are we supposed to jump up and down with glee because Julia Louis-Dreyfus shows up for 30 seconds?

The MCU has had tons of top level talent in various roles over the years. Fans would have been excited if Black Widow had already been released, but this was just random.
