Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

Watched the first ep. The energy seemed off until Jessica’s monologue and then I knew the show was back.

I hate that Morty is becoming so much like Rick. It really hammers home how Rick is not a role model. He’s toxic, and he brings down the ones he loves because he won’t face his own demons.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

So I guess only the premiere was free uncensored? I don't really feel like paying to have the bleeps removed when I already have the censored version sitting on my DVR, and will end up buying the Blu-Ray when it comes out. Why is this so difficult Cartoon Network?

Yes. I researched it and Amazon was the only reasonable place I could find to watch it. It's $25 for the season.

Otherwise, you need to wait 1 week to watch them on the site. And they'll only have 5 episodes trailing.

I'm kind of addicted to rewatching and playing it the background when I'm working.

The longer than usual Highlander ending on the new episode was great.

The site is censored too though, correct?

Mortyplicity instantly made it into my top 10. I was laughing pretty much non stop.

I have the iTunes season pass... uncensored.

Planetina episode was a bit of a misfire for me after a couple of classics. Didn’t really buy Morty’s arc in it and ended on a sappy note.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

Accidentally posted this in the S4 thread ..

Holy shit this Planetina episode. Morty going all psycho with the rings. Then her going all psycho. So great. I wish this was uncensored. I need to see those elbow tits

Fyi if you watch the vod version, they do interviews with talent. After this one, Dan Harmon said it was his decision to change it to where Morty broke up with Planetina. Originally, she broke up with him. Made the emotional aspect more impactful.

I have it on Amazon Season Pass. All the swearing is there. But no unblurred elbow titties. Cruel world, ya know.

LOL, “Rickdependence Spray” ... Not the most intricate of episodes, but damn if I wasn't laughing at some of these jokes harder than anything yet in season 5. I had to rewind the first 5 minutes because I doubled over. "Sticky!" Hahaha

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

Amazon accidentally posted S05E07 for a short while by mistake instead of S05E04 this week. I didn't watch it though as I want to see them in order, but from what I was told by a friend who did, it actually had the Adult Swim watermark in the episode lol. So probably the censored version of the episode.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

Just watched Planetina, that was brutal. And we saw the after show with the writers - the thing with Beth actually trying to parent was pretty real. It seems cliche but this show really can get serious and make good points when it wants to.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

I'm glad to see this thread turned more toward the content of the show than where to find it, I was worried for a little while it wasn't good enough to write about.

I haven't picked up a season pass for this year, but I think I may have to go for it.

S5 (uncensored) is $14.99 on Amazon video now. Used $14 from Prime Day slow shipping credits to get it.

Not sure what to make of the incest-baby episode - guess it was amusing, but I didn't really laugh much. Seeing the 2-minute behind the scenes, seems like the creators weren't particularly enamored with it either.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

I liked it a lot. See, I'm not the world's biggest Rick and Morty fan. Oftentimes, I'll see that some episodes have piled up on my DVR and I have to binge them just to clear some space.

A/V Club compared this episode to "something Family Guy would do". Family Guy is a show I watch more regularly, so my appreciation of this Rick and Morty episode suddenly makes a lot more sense when you look at it that way.

Yeah, IMO, that's not a compliment.

Exactly. They meant it as an insult, I saw it as more of an explanation why I liked it.

Agreed. I typically watch each new episode of Rick and Morty twice before deleting it. I deleted this one as soon as I finished. Meh.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

The incest baby story was a little too similar to the robot sex doll morty fucked that created the monster.

Not good if they're already tweaking existing stories this early in the series life.

Re: Rick and Morty - Season 5 - 6/20/21

I forgot the season finale was last night until I checked my DVR this afternoon.

Jerry being a spin again on the wheel

The Samurai Jack style first part of the second episode was cool and I guess we got confirmation that Rick’s wife and Beth were really killed by the bomb from a Rick from another dimension and Beth isn’t his Beth.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like overall this season the show disappeared up its own ass a bit too much.

I'll say it... this season sucks. I rarely mildly chuckle let alone laugh.
