American Horror Story: Double Feature (FX) - Season 10 Thread - premieres 8/25/21

As promised, Ryan Murphy has officially announced the Season 10 theme for FX’s “American Horror Story” tonight, and it’s “American Horror Story: Double Feature“!That’s right, we’re getting TWO stories in ONE season this year. “One by the sea… and one by the sand,” a short teaser video shared by Murphy tonight promises.

Stay tuned for more info on “Double Feature” as we learn it.

The pandemic-delayed 10th season of “American Horror Story” is headed to FX later this year, and spinoff anthology series “American Horror Stories” is coming soon as well.

The cast for Season 10 will include “AHS” regulars Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Finn Wittrock, Lily Rabe, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter and Angelica Ross.

Also in the mix this year? Macaulay Culkin!
Reminder... this was renewed through Season 13.

This starts tonight. You may have to update your DVR because of the title.

Pretty obvious that there was a huge drop of interest in this show. I haven't checked out the spinoff on Hulu yet. Doesn't seem like many others have as well.

Spin-off is really just individual episodes. Half of them are connected to AHS anyways. It was fun filler.

Last season was great. Just rewatched Hotel and it was just as good as I remember it.

New season would have to be terrible for me to not watch.

That's good to know. I have the Blu-Ray of Hotel but haven't gotten around to (re)watching it yet. I just remember it being my favorite season of AHS, but I recently saw some "rankings" of the seasons and they all overwhelmingly slagged Hotel. Yet I thought it was the best season when I first watched it, I'm glad it still holds up.

I'd put Hotel within my top five.

Yea, I liked it. Felt very Stephen King-like. I thought it was great how, for the most part, the scenes with those guys were in daylight... which adds to the creepiness.

Lily Rabe continues to look more and more like her mother.

I've said that MANY times when AHS started up a new season. It always seems like they have 4 hours of material, then someone at FX tells them, "Uh guys, we need 9 more episodes" then they start scrambling and finding aliens, Nazis, and Fleetwood Mac.

It's probably good that they're going with two different stories this season.

I love the parallels between addiction and creativity.

I saw this comment in FB:
It'll fall apart in the next few episodes when Ryan Murphy gets bored of the story so they just throw plot elements at the wall and bombard you with arse shots of whoever they are horny for this year in the hope you don't notice.

I'm a bit behind and just finished the season opener(s) last night, didn't get to watch last night's yet. But yeah, very King-like with the family and the daughter wanting to take the Muse pill. I can totally see that in a King novel.

And I had to look up who Lily Rabe's mom was. Not being a huge Jill Clayburgh fan, the resemblance didn't jump out at me. Now Billie Lourd however...

I haven't watched the Hulu show yet, but I’ll probably stick with the flagship until the bitter end.

I thought this was a good start. I know Whittrock is part of Murphy's usual acting contingent, but I think they maybe could have cast someone better. The same goes double for Culkin.

That's why I have cooled so much on Murphy. I haven't even watched any of his Netflix shows. He's great at creating worlds but not so great on follow through.

.
Macauley Culkin already hit a home run with his real-life partner, he should just be happy about that and not seek out any more acting roles

I can't make any sense out of this statement. Can you explain further?

This is Macaulay Culkin and his real-life partner:

Isn't that enough success for one person, especially a goofy-looking guy like that?

She seems fine, but what bearing would that have on him not wanting to work anymore? Is she super rich or something?

No, she's had middling success since her Disney channel show ended. She's on a Hulu show know that'll be lucky to last past 3 seasons.

Yeah, no reason to over-analyze a snarky reference. Someone made a complaint about Culkin's acting, so I piggy-backed on that with a complaint that Culkin is dating the impossibly hot Brenda Song. As if I had even a remote chance of dating her if he weren't. Just a playful comment, not meaningful criticism. It's the internet.

Re: American Horror Story: Double Feature (FX) - Season 10 Thread - premieres 8/25/21

As for an actual critique of the show, and not the personal lives of the actors involved, still enjoying it. Alma is a right brat, pills or not. I actually like that, instead of the super-cute cloying child we usually see in movies and television. Nor is she the evil "bad seed". Just a typical self-centered child.

I learned about a sexual practice that I could have lived the rest of my life not knowing about. And on that, I thought they actually glossed over that scene too fast, if you can believe it. Would have been a good side-plot (and time-killer, if Murphy and Falchuk need it) had they let it play out for an entire episode. If this show goes off the rails towards the end because they run out of plot ideas (something that happens on AHS a LOT), they're gonna regret they didn't drag out the side-story of the Maynard and Zed couple making the snuff films.

So far, I'm enjoying this season. Loved the Islands in the Stream duet.
