SNL 02/20/21 (S46E13) -- H: Regé-Jean Page, MG: Bad Bunny

Tonight’s host is Regé-Jean Page, one of the stars of the wildly popular show Bridgerton on Netflix.

He was also in the movies Mortal Engines and Sylvie’s Love (on Amazon).

I’ve never heard of Bad Bunny.

Oh, and Nick Jonas is doing double-duty next weekend.

Season 46 (2020-2021)

I heard this song in the car and did not change the station.

It is catchy and has a cool beat though I am not fluent in Spanish but who cares.

This one of the signs you're old. When the host of SNL is someone you have never heard of in your life because he stars on a TV show you have never watched. I have heard of Bad Bunny, but I don't think I've ever heard his music.

It is why SNL has been on the air for so long adapting to the latest and new trends in pop culture.

That was pretty good. Also, bought the La noche song. Good stuff.

Well I don't know if this will make you feel old or not, but the 10PM ET SNL rerun is hosted by Britney Spears. From 2000.

The funny thing is that when I was young, I often didn't know who the musical guests were either! Either they were picking some veteran musician whose best days were before my time (Billy Preston, Leon Redbone, Ornette Coleman), then later they were hitting up the new wave artists that weren't cracking mainstream radio yet (The B-52s, The Specials, Talking Heads....if you were only listening to top-40 radio in those days like I was you definitely weren't hearing those bands)

What's up with the audience tonight whooping and hollering constantly? Especially after almost everything Page says. It's irritating as shit.

It was like watching an episode of Happy Days when The Fonz was popular. Very annoying and making it a difficult watch, it didn't help there was little to no humor.

Exactly! They even did it during that "Loco" clip. So distracting. Separate subject, McKinnon played two men tonight. Is that a record for her in one episode? Getting old.

He's only been famous for not even 2 months, on a streaming show aimed toward women, you'd be forgiven for not knowing who the hell he was.

I can only hope in 2 months we won't remember who the hell he was. He is so ordinary and absolutely nothing stands out about him.

I think he was mentioned in the James Bond thread as a possible new Bond...

I was so very annoyed at the screaming from the audience.

I have to believe she played 2 of the Jeff Sessions, Rudy Giuliani and Lindsey Graham characters in the same episode at some point.

He's really good in Bridgerton and extremely hot. His popularity is just starting.

Good show. Best one since Halpert hosted.

I'm not going to hold it against SNL that the host was a handsome young man who makes women squeal and sploosh.

The only clunker sketch for me was the praying competition, and I thought the Freddy Kreuger thing was weak, but the night had solid bits throughout.

Melissa V and the new White girl didn't appear to my recollection. I guess if you're Punkie Johnson, you see the host is Black and figure you'll get in ONE sketch that week.

Pretty big week for Chloe Fineman and Andrew Dismukes and Ego Nwodim. I even liked that first Bad Bunny song, even though I don't understand Spanish.

Pete saying that his mom is old and worn out like SNL.

He'll probably win the role of Angel for the Buffy reboot in the internet casting poll.

Except they weren't just squealing and splooshing over him. Sure, he got the most. But they were doing this throughout the entire show and for almost everyone. Again, check out the "Loco" clip.

I think he was in every sketch and Bad Bunny was also in that Loco film, and people always scream when the musical guest shows up in bits.

Anyways, It's mostly a live performance show. Audience reaction is crucial. I'd rather listen to people liking the show that dead air.

When you think about it, squealing with excitement is at least an honest reaction. Who claps when they think something is funny?

I've watched enough Married With Children in my life that if hearing an audience whoop and holler was going to drive me crazy, I would have been in a straight jacket a long time ago.

An inside joke for the handful of people who were looking at this forum last night.

He is an actor who has an actual name. It's John Krasinski.
And that episode was only three weeks ago.

Melissa Tweeted something that sounded a little concerning.

Then later it seems that her uncle may have just died?

Recent enough that you should remember his monologue with the questions from "the audience" bit.
