Nathaniel Rateliff (formerly of Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats) is an American Folk singer who recently penned and performed the song "Redemption" for the Justin Timberland movie "Palmer" over on AppleTV+.

You are confusing her with Regina Hall

It's a joke from Black Monday. Anytime she's somewhere fancy, the older white folks assume she's Regina King from 227.

I've been marathoning it lately so it's kinda fresh

Not great but there were a few good bits like the Peletaunt bike ad and the Elbow Monologues.

Not a fan of Rateliff but the second song was pretty good. Hated the one from the Timberlake movie.

Have literally never heard of either singer or host next week. Bad Bunny? And I can’t remember what the host’s name was.

Bad Bunny is huge in Latin Music. The way he raps/sings is very unique even in Spanish so it will be interesting to see what our “older” forum members will say, listening to him for the very first time.

I’m looking forward to his appearance next week.

Host is the male lead on Bridgerton, which is now Netflix’s most watched show ever.

I bailed after the disco sketch. The Pelotaunt seemed like it should have been an easy one to hit out of the park and they couldn’t even do that.

I was impressed with the amount of energy Regina King brought given what they gave her to work with.

Now see, if they had just done the "Elbow" sketch a year ago, I wouldn't have been as confused when Louise used the phrase "See You Next Tuesday" on Bob's Burgers

I am a weed gummy

Regina King is a good actress but probably miscast as a host since she does not do a lot of comedy.

I don't get whey Aidy Bryant played Andy Reid and then Ted Cruz this week when they have plenty of male guys for those roles.

I'm most familiar with her as the voices of both Huey and Riley Freeman on The Boondocks, and she was absolutely hilarious on that.

(Alert, this clip does use the N-word)

Only a few chuckles from a few sketches. Not a good episode at all. Kind of boring too.
Regina King deserved better than this.

Happens often. Maybe they think it'll be funnier when played by a woman - it usually isn't.

I thought it was a good episode and Regina King was great. The musical guest was not my kind of music but gave good performances also.

Re: SNL 02/13/21 (S46E12) -- H: Regina King, MG: Nathaniel Rateliff

I loved the Pelotaunt ad, especially the bit about providing a fisheye view of your own ass. I also liked the musical guest. None of the sketches were real standouts. The birthday gift one was OK, but went way too long.

I don't watch Bridgerton and all I know about Bad Bunny is his Corona commercials with Snoop, so next week might make liberal use of the fast forward button.

It was an above-average episode, and King really put a lot into each sketch she was in (like that dating show sketch), and was really charming.
My wife and I liked the one making fun of the "drinking wine" culture one, calling out all this "I love wine" bullshit that masquerades for alcoholism, basically.

I had forgotten about the dating game sketch. That one was great. I thought the wine one started off good, but went too long.

Yeah, too many of the sketches went a little too long.

That wine skit was the best of the night IMO. But yes, it went on a little too long. Regina King was great the entire show. Even in the weakest sketches, she threw herself 150% into everything. Making them even better than they were. I continue to be impressed with her overall. I've known her work for years, but she really caught my attention with "Southland". One of the best cop shows ever. And sadly gone way too soon because of poor ratings. I didn't realize that she also directed too until I saw her on Graham Norton. She discussed shooting scenes in rowdy neighborhoods and refused to move locations.
