I don't know if everyone gave up on the show, but tonight's finale had a special guest show up during the closing credits scene. Of course, the reveal was pretty much ruined because said guest's name was listed in the credits before they showed who it was. I swear, a trained chimpanzee could get a TV network job these days.

Nice little cameo. Would have like more though.

I noticed Joanna Kerns directed this last ep and two others.
Didn’t know she was directing now.

Neither did I, but she's done a ton.

Re: Night Court (NBC) -- S: Melissa Rauch, John Larroquette -- Premieres 1/17/23

It looks like there was a cast change between seasons.
On the season 2 premiere--a Christmas episode--Neil the court clerk was replaced by a new clerk with no explanation.

I found no actual articles about the change except for a Reddit post saying the change will be explained, but the strike forced the episodes to air out of order so Christmas appears before Christmas.

I thought they were going somewhere with Neil's crush on Abby ... guess not!

Not gonna start a thread for the new show Extended Family that premiered tonight after Night Court, but the phony laugh track on EF is fucking obnoxious! The laughs have to be in response to JOKES, people.

I am still enjoying Night Court well enough, it is not an amazing sitcom, but a fun way to kill 24-25 minutes of time. On the other hand, I have no clue why I am still watching Extended Family, it really is a bad sitcom but I guess that I let it run in the background and will of course not miss it when it is cancelled. The great cast in EF is wasted, Jon Cryer, Donald Faison, Abigail Spencer, yet the show is a mess with folks who seem to have no chemistry with each other. Chemistry tests for actors are a thing in Hollywood, right? This show could have used a chem test or two before it aired.

Definitely a guilty pleasure for me still. The cast is vibing a bit better, but I really still watch because of John Larroquette. He's a treasure.

If you're a Star Trek fan (especifically Star Trek III: The Search for Spock), you should definitely check out tonight's episode where:

Spoiler:
Dan wears full Klingon makeup and outfit for some reason related to Comic-Con for much of the episode. He even goes by the name Maltz. Unfortunately, the makeup doesn't match the original Maltz's forehead, but still pretty cool.

Re: Night Court (NBC) -- S: Melissa Rauch, John Larroquette -- Premieres 1/17/23

I didn't know
Spoiler:
Laroquette was in that movie, but I assumed he'd had some kind of Star Trek background with the obviously meta joke he made about the costume

I did like the Comic Con inclusion, they probably could have leaned into it more, made it the A plot. But I was still ok with the episode in general, because a few years ago an old college buddy of mine visited for the weekend and midway through the visit I suddenly realized how much I hated the guy.

This episode with Kunal Nayyar was actually okay, and we all knew she was going to wear the hideous robe he made for her, but the bit still worked.

Slightly weird that Simon Helberg (Howard from TBBT) was not the one who put in an appearance on the show, considering he was married to Melissa's character on The Big Bang Theory, but I can roll with it.

Honestly, THE BEST character on TBBT was Amy Farah Fowler. Id rather see an appearance by Mayim Bialick

Re: Night Court (NBC) -- S: Melissa Rauch, John Larroquette -- Premieres 1/17/23

I finally finished both seasons a couple weeks ago. It's a show that's corny as hell and the jokes often seem like a 14yo wrote them, but I think the original was the same. I think this show and the OG is/was fueled by characters having a lot of heart. Anyway, I'm in for season 3

I'll take "Tell me you are a virgin without telling me you're a virgin" for 1600, Ken.

The correct reply would have been “Have you ever kissed a girl?”

Re: Night Court (NBC) -- S: Melissa Rauch, John Larroquette -- Premieres 1/17/23

India De Beaufort is leaving the show

Is that a good move since I don't think she is getting a lot of work outside of the show?

The verdict is in: Another Night Court cast member is heading for the exits.

India de Beaufort, who played prosecutor Olivia on the NBC sitcom, is leaving after two seasons and won’t return for the upcoming Season 3, TVLine has confirmed.

de Beaufort broke the news herself in an Instagram post earlier this month, the same day Night Court was renewed for a third season at NBC: “For the last two years, I have had the immense privilege of driving onto the WB lot and walking onto a stage filled with the most hard working, loving and talented cast and crew that comedy has to offer. Today they received a [Season 3] pick up. Knowing and loving them as I do, I am beyond overjoyed for the most deserving people I know. I will miss the honor of being in their brilliant company, but my god. That was fun. My time at Night Court has come to an end.”

Wish I could agree here. I've never seen a performance so wooden, as if she stepped out of a junior high school play. Easily the most disposable character and I couldn't be happier she's not moving forward with S3. The show itself is still poorly written and overall chemistry of the cast is minimal at best, but we all need to have a hatewatch in our arsenal of endless choices - and this is ours.

Ooooh trust me, I was about the talk major shit about her performance and I wont miss her. But I decided to keep it generic and nice by simply wishing her well.
