That clip makes it sound like they never met before. When Larroquette said Abby sees him for the first time in 35 years, I think it's from 35 year old pictures and not in person.

and Dan had settled down and was married for a while before his wife (Sarah) either died or left him.

It looks like Dan Feilding will have really evolved from the character that he was in the original show. He will almost be like an entirely new character in the new show, similar to how much Seven of Nine's character changed from her Voyager days to Star Trek: Picard. It looks like he may play more of a mentor role or be the moral high ground for this new series.

I suspect his wife passing away made him bitter and turn into a recluse. He'll slowly come back out of his shell through the course of the show and open himself up to people/relationships again. Or at least he will if the show defies the odds and gets more than 1 season.

Dan was already maturing by the end of the original run, so it would be kind of lame to revert his character back to the sexually deviant creep he was in the earlier seasons.
And there's no way that the early 80s Dan Fielding would still be working in the current #MeToo climate. He'd be fired, sued, and probably disbarred.

It looks like Dan Fielding will be the public defender in this show in contrast to being the prosecutor in the original series.

OK but we’re not even sure if this thing takes place in a year where Renner has been born yet.

Can’t say I was looking forward to this show but I was mildly interested because I was a fan of the original. The cold open left me very cold and didn’t give me a laugh. Don’t know how long I can last.

The first episode was all set up and little laughs.
The second episode was a vast improvement. It felt a little like the old series. I caught myself laughing a few times and stopped comparing it to what I remember as a kid.
I'm in for awhile.
(... my biggest drawback is the I keep seeing/hearing "Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz" as "Abby Stone.")

This show and Law and Order are 2 shows that actually ruin the look of the show, the sets look too clean. The grittiness of the sets were a part of the feel of these shows

The old Night Court only looks gritty because it is in 4:3 Standard Definition and was shot on film.

I thought this was streamed on Peacock, but I don't see it on there. What is it being streamed on?

This show actually was a bit charming at times, and it did feel like the cast clicked with each other right from the get-go. Melissa Rauch is adorable as a Judge. I am also in for the foreseeable future. Even the opening scene with the Judge going through security and chatting with the guy in front of her and her bailiff introducing herself worked, it felt like I was watching an effortless interaction between all three actors.

Yes the 1st 2 episodes are on Peacock
Richard Moll is 80. But, he hasn't done much lately.
