Will Rauch's character be the daughter of both Harry and Christine? If not, I am guessing that nullifies Kenneth's finale.
Of course there's also the chance they never married and just had her as a kid and secretly tied the knot later, but they probably would have wanted their daughter present. I highly doubt they will take the route of making her an orphan, but you never know.

Rauch isn't young. The show had two potential love interest series regulars that exited the show without explanation. They could make Billie or Lana her mom, and Harry didn't know about the baby until after the series ended.

First still
This was officially picked up to series. Looks like it won’t air until 2023.

And what about Christine's kid? Wonder if he'll (I think it was a boy) make an appearance or be mentioned.
I think tying the show to the original by character relations and including Dan Fielding will make this feel weird since 3 major characters aren't around and have died too soon.
Maybe best if it were just rebooted with the same setting and different generation of unrelated characters. Of course, they won't get the initial interest in the show that way.

Maybe Harry had a secret daughter in the 1980s when he was running around NYC with Egon Spengler.

Dan Felding would have been canceled after the first episode if Night Court aired today. I wonder how neutered the character is going to be in this.

You mean "matured"? It won't be hard to tone it down.
Night Court still holds up today. It's on Amazon if you want to watch.

Yeah, the OG Night Court is not hard to find to watch if you put a wee bit of effort into it. Even if folks claim he has been "neutered/cancelled" in the new show, fans can just pivot to watching the beloved series through Amazon, DVD, and I am not sure if Night Court is airing on one of the basic cable channels that airs things like re-runs of Bonanza, etc..
The thing is that folks complaining about shows being Woke today, well...as the Star Trek thread discussion has revealed, the OG Star Trek (and beloved TNG) were "woke" in some case decades before fans started tying to slam shows with characters that could be interpreted as "woke."
Woke is just another way of saying that a character or person has grown up and oftentimes not just older but wiser. It would honestly be kind-of weird if Felding's character were basically a carbon copy of his character from the OG Night Court.
I like to think that over the course of many years that he has become an older and wiser, and more mature individual that has experienced some character growth. If we get quality writing from the writer's room on this show, this character growth could still present us with a different but still the same Felding character that became so popular with fans of the show.
Also, the shows also stars Melissa Rauch so I will definitely be up to give it a watch.

Hah, I had not thought of that. It was not great, but Rauch was pretty good in the film called The Bronze. and of course I like many others was a fan of her character on The Big Bang Theory, so she is nearly as much of a draw to me in watching this new version of Night Court as the fact that Larroqquette is reprising his role.

She used her normal voice when she first appeared on TBBT. It was her second or third appearance that she decided to go with that squeaky voice.
Her voice doesn’t really bother me much but her appearance looks a lot different when she isn’t wearing glasses.

Dan's lechery was always the butt of jokes in the original series, anyway, so that would seem to mitigate the need to "cancel" the character in that series.

Based on Rauch and Laroquette's talent I am sure this might be good, but it seems like destined to fail to bring back a show that ended 30 years ago that was not particularly successful in Syndication/cable reruns since it ended. The name id for this to anyone under 40 must be anemic/non existant

It would be nice if they kept a few elements from the original’s theme music. Night Court and Cheers are the two themes that will instantly transport me back to childhood when I hear them.
…eh, maybe Unsolved Mysteries too but that’s more terrifying.

I like both Melissa & John. I'll at least give it a chance, although my expectations are pretty low.

^ Same.
That first peak video didn’t look impressive. I hope there aren’t a bunch of jokes about Harry still getting his yucks from beyond the grave.

With what little they've showed us, Rauch could very well be the weak point of the show. She just doesn't come off as funny in her demeanor.
I'm not expecting Bernadette's voice obviously, but it feels like you could give her the funniest lines ever written - and her ho-hum delivery will make the joke flat.
