Why do you think this is not going to be sitcom just like the original Night Court? Especially since the producers are all from comedy shows.

Yeah, the womanizer schtick wouldn't work now unless they leaned into him trying to put that past behind him.

Larroquette did play another lawyer on Boston Legal. I can't remember how close that was to his Night Court character.
The Brady Bunch revived as The Bradys. There were quite a few tv sitcoms that had reunion movies that would have been considered dramas rather than comedy.

I can say with 100% certainty that Richard Moll will not make an appearance on this show.

"But you gotta hear his explanation WHY -- 'cause it's hilarious."

Click on the video and the only explanation he gives is "I love show business, it's the people I can't stand!"

But looking him up in IMDB he's still working so who knows.

Eh, that's from almost 8 years ago, and they were asking him about a re-union show. I wouldn't put it at 100%.

Yeah, I was expecting something like he didn't want to wear a bald cap or something silly. That's just lame clickbait nonsense.

I would. I've heard stories for decades that there was some seriously bad blood on that show. And that's a shame, because it's the most underrated brilliant sitcom in history.

And we don't know who that bad blood was with. So far, only John is signed up for this. If the problems are with him, sure, but otherwise...

Since the main character is Harry's daughter, it's possible she could know the other characters as friends of her father, so they could each turn up as a guest in an episode, but none of them would still be working there.

I wonder if she'll be a Mel Torme fan.

More importantly, is Kenneth's Night Court finale script in 30 Rock now considered canon?

Pilot was ordered yesterday.

Melissa Rauch and Larroquette would be the stars. Rauch as the OP said is also the EP of the possible series.

I loved Night Court, but they really need to stop rebooting everything in sight. Besides, Harry Anderson is what really made this show. And he isn’t really available anymore.

I wonder if it's actually still being negotiated and she'll later be announced for the lead.

Richard Moll is a bit odd. He had an appearance on the midday talk show at my tv station a few years ago. He was promoting a play that he was performing in Nashville. Everyone on the crew was commenting about he weird he was.

Still think his best performance is as Xusia in The Sword & the Sorcerer. It was just so out there and over the top, even for him.

Charles Robinson as Mac was a great everyman on the show. The episode when Quon Le's Vietnamese family threatens to kill themselves during Dan's birthday party is one of the all time greats.

Quon Le Robinson: My family is preparing to die!
[Panning over to the table, showing her family holding knives to their chest]
Mac Robinson: Those are butter knives. What are they going to do, spread themselves to death?

Ordered to series. No Harry, no Mac, no Christine. Hard to drum up much excitement for this.

I wonder if they're going to write in mention of Mac's and Christine's death as well, or keep one or both of them alive living somewhere else.
Would be kind of weird to have all 3 dead in the show as they all died relatively young - and seems a bit depressing for the show.

They could work it in as a character motivation. Working the night shift takes its toll, so she needs to do whatever she can to get transferred to a regular day-judge position ASAP.
