MILF Island still seems more interesting.

Premieres Tuesday night.

There is a 22 minute behind the scenes special hosted by Sanchez. She says Elena Roarke is the grand niece of the original Mr. Roarke. And they do show a photo of Ricardo Montalban.

I’m watching this only for Roselyn Sanchez. I have zero hope this will be any good, but we can at least enjoy seeing her.

I came here for the Fantasy Island talk but I'd really like to see MILF Island realized.

re: Fantasy Island (FOX) -- S: Roselyn Sanchez

I watched it last night. It's fine. it's very light summer entertainment, which the producers said it was in the behind the scenes special.

The 1st story about the news anchor who just wanted to eat was a little weird, but it later got a little deeper with her coming to terms with the death of her Mom and abuse from her step Dad. Although it just abruptly ended.

The 2nd story about the old couple and the wife who was dying lacked a little something for me. I also thought the actors who played their younger counterparts weren't really good. It looks like the wife staying on the island as her younger counterpart means she will be working with Roarke.

I did like Roselyn Sanchez as the new Roarke. I saw her looking at a photo of the original Mr. Roarke and on the end credits they credited ABC for the photo.

It's shot on location in Puerto Rico and does look really nice. I believe the original had some exteriors shot in Hawaii, but it was mostly filmed on sound stages.

Poor Roselyn Sanchez. This certainly won't last. Miss Devious Maids.

And after that flopped they made it into an unrelated TV series.

Edit: Did she cannibalize the guy? The fuck?

First episode was ok. I probably won’t continue.

Yeah, Blumhouse released the horror movie last year.

Roarke said he was already dead since 2012. But yeah that was weird and it ended abruptly.

I saw nothing in the first episode convincing me to stick around though I've generally liked stuff from Fain and Craft before. And I'm sorry guys, Roselyn Sanchez doesn't have enough charisma serving as the show's focal point.

Montalban played Roarke with panache and a little over the top. Maybe they don't think that tone would work today, but I think Sanchez's performance could have used an infusion of some of old Roarke's personality. After all, they are supposed to be related.

Second episode.

The actor who plays Ruby. She has a very different look. I can’t decide if I think she is unusually beautiful or just unusual.

The main Fantasy. A married couple who are highly adventurous but stopped having sex.
They want to reconnect to each other so Rourk does a Freaky Friday to them.

The other one is the actor from lost who was Dr Marvin Candle. François Chau
A little interesting that he is on another Island show even if only for a one shot.

I like the show enough to keep with it for a little while.

Sanchez is much better on this then Mcdowlle was. That show tried to hard to be a remake of the original.

Exactly. She has some amazing features that don't quite mesh; in some angles, she looks downright goofy.

So while I did like this episode I hade a big problem with the way the two actors one of which I think was Arielle Kebbel portrayed their opposite gender.

Just too stereotypical.

Also that bit where they do a practical joke on drunk people by beating them Up and dumping them on the other side of the island and in the middle f the jungle.
Seems like assault and kidnapping.
Bartender seemed fine with it like it’s sop.
The other people in the bar didn’t flinch an eye lid.

The couple was played by Dave and Odette Annable. They are married in real life. I read they were splitting up a while back, but it looks like they are back together now.

Right. I got her name mixed up.

Either way married in real life or not it was not great.

there's a 6 year age difference between em but man does he look old. That aside yeah they did caricatures of man playing women and vise versa, they weren't playing each other's personalities.

This isn't a good show, but I kind of like watching it. I don't see it getting a back order so I'll watch it til it ends.

Dave Annable went grey in his mid to late 20s when he was on Brothers and Sisters so he's always looked older. He's only 42.

re: Fantasy Island (FOX) -- S: Roselyn Sanchez

I just finished the 2nd episode from last week and I'll probably watch the 3rd before bed.

The Freaky Friday switch between the Annable's was fun. Dave and Odette did a good job with the reverse roles.

The 2nd story was really just about a man overcoming long-term grief and finally coming to terms with it. It was semi-interesting.

The episode flew by. The show is really light. BTW, I checked the Futoncritic and it looks like the season order is only 8 episodes. The season will wrap just before Fall.

I like Odette Annable so I watched the second episode, but ugh, there’s just not much to this show. Not interesting at all.

re: Fantasy Island (FOX) -- S: Roselyn Sanchez

I agree with DJariya, the show is light and just not a chore to watch. Fantasy Island is one of those well known shows from when I was younger that I never watched. I get that this version sounds like it does not hold a candle to the original but again, it is just a nice and breezy show that ends on a happy note so a good tonic to many of the stories I read/see in the headlines on a daily basis. Also, the latest episode, I thought the Physicist guy and the "invisible" mother had nice chemistry together and in my mind they end up together even after they are off the island.

re: Fantasy Island (FOX) -- S: Roselyn Sanchez

There wasn't too much to the 3rd episode. It was mostly about that "Invisible" mother realizing she was a selfish woman and put her needs over her daughter's. Kind of cute that they tied that into the the 2nd story with the disillusioned professor and the 2 formed a connection.

Yeah if you need a show to have more substance, then this show probably isn't for you. It's just a light and breezy hour.

I did like the end when Roarke presented Ruby with some items and photos to keep her up to date with her family.
