Cobra Kai (now on Netflix) — Season 3 Thread — premieres 1/1/21

New year. New season. Still badass. Season 3 of Cobra Kai premieres this January only on Netflix. And remember, Cobra Kai Never Dies.
Already renewed for Season 4.

Holy crap, this looks amazing. I hadn't heard Kumiko was back for sure, and I'm surprised they had both her and Chozen in the trailer. Hoping Ali makes an appearance as well. I can't wait for this.

Holy flipping awesome sauce! This is probably one of the best shows to have aired over the past 5 years. It really is one of those who would have thunk it type stories, that an attempt to continue telling stories from the Karate Kid universe on tv instead of the movies would produce such a wonderful show. Also nice to know that January is going to have some grade A content for us to consume in the new year.

Anyone else notice the NYE music in the trailer? Wouldn’t surprise me if this drops on the 1st.

It's supposed to release on the 8th. I think the music was just playing on it being just after New Year's

Was Johnny in the country club at the end of the trailer? Is that where Alli with an i might show up?

100% it's the same one, and that'll be the re-introduction...and now he's the one having to pretend to be a member. Also guaranteed they'll have the same music playing in the background.

I wish they played the series more straight without all of the on the nose nostalgia, but that is the essence of the show - and likely the only reason for it's existence, so I get it. Still looking forward to it.

So I'm guessing he ends up covered in spaghetti this time 👍

Will the whole entire country club stop what they're doing and laugh at him? I always found that part odd.

Because people in country clubs are dicks!

Maybe not always, but my wife used to bus tables at one when she was 16 and she has stories. The one that always cracks me up is that she once placed a dinner roll on the right side of someone's plate and the woman rolled her eyes and snottily said, "Rolls to the right?!?" Apparently proper etiquette indicates they should be placed on one's left. FYI. Don't let such a breach happen to you!

I just binged most of Season 1 of this, I like it, cheesy but fun. Hopefully be done with Season 2 before 3 starts up (seems likely)

I would say at least watch 2. It's how Daniel meets Kumiko and how Chozen becomes his adversary. 3 isn't really mandatory viewing. It's just a rehash of 1 and 2.

But, unfortunately it looks like neither are on any streaming service now.

Karate Kid II is streaming for free on Amazon (with ads).

Crazy how much Tamlyn reminded me of Nobu McCarthy in that clip. Same mannerisms, but better accent. I'm interested to find out what happened to Yukie, since Miyagi left her...TWICE!

I'm assuming the character has long passed away as is Sato. I mean good lord, 36 years have passed. Kumiko and Daniel character-wise are probably in their late 40s/early 50s.

I don't expect any of them to be alive (all the actors have since passed), but Kumiko and Chozen must have some story about what happened to them after KK2. Miyagi was the only one to have moved on and married someone. Yukie and Sato were still single as far as I could tell and it's not like Miyagi went back to Okinawa after KK4 (or did he?)

It's amazing to me that Macchio is less than a year away from 60. Both him and Zabka are older than Morita was in the first two Karate Kid movies.
