Shameless (Showtime) -- The 11th and Final Season -- premieres 12/6/20

ISHOWTIME has announced the 11th and final season of its hit comedy series SHAMELESS will premiere Sunday, December 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. SHAMELESS, which originally premiered in the winter of 2011, ranks as the network’s No. 1 comedy and its longest-running series, and has the youngest-skewing audience of any SHOWTIME series. Season 10 of SHAMELESS aired its finale on January 26 and averaged 5.7 million weekly viewers across platforms.

The final season of SHAMELESS finds the Gallagher family and the South Side at a crossroads, with changes caused by the COVID pandemic, gentrification and aging to reconcile. As Frank (William H. Macy) confronts his own mortality and family ties in his alcoholic and drug induced twilight years, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) struggles with the prospect of becoming the family’s new patriarch. Newlyweds Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey (Noel Fisher) are figuring out the rules and responsibilities of being in a committed relationship while Deb (Emma Kenney) embraces her individuality and single motherhood. Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) finds an unlikely new career in law enforcement and Kevin (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton) struggle to decide whether a hard life on the South Side is worth fighting for.

SHAMELESS stars Oscar® nominee and Emmy® and SAG Award® winner William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan, Christian Isaiah, Noel Fisher and Kate Miner. Created by Paul Abbott, the series is produced by Bonanza Productions in association with John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Developed for American television by John Wells, the series is executive produced by Wells, Nancy M. Pimental, Joe Lawson, Iain MacDonald and Michael Hissrich.

Have we had accidental eating of sperm yet on the show? If not, I wonder if they'll slip that in somewhere. How about necrophilia?

Will Emmy Rossum show up on the final episode? I missed her getting naked in the series.

I prefer Svetlana. They need to bring her back.

Re: Shameless (Showtime) -- The 11th and Final Season -- premieres 12/6/20

I guess the series will end with Frank finally getting some karma coming to him... in the form of Alzheimer's.

It's funny that they keep casting short people around Carl so he doesn't look as short as he really is.

So last week we found out Lip was spending all this time and money (even if he exaggerated the amount he spent this week) renovating a rental. They made his character stupid. I wish before the show ends Lip can use his brains to succeed in something... whether it's through schooling or just in real-world legal hustling with street-smarts. It's a shame what they did to the character.

Not the same without Fiona for sure... This TV show lost a lot when she left, the creators of this show are trying to put Deborah in her place in some ways but it's just wrong. Last season is lacking a lot of fun in my opinion.

Maybe they did this because of the pandemic, but I really don't care for the "look-back" episodes. IMO, one of the good things about the show was the changing point of view and multiple story lines. Sitting through an entire episode focused on just one of these pairs of idiots is more than I want, even if it wasn't all reruns.

I don't know what the deal with these clip shows is. Are they just padding out the final season? Or is this because of the pandemic?

I looked on wikipedia, and it looks like the final season is only eight episodes, and there are four of these "Hall of Shame" things being shown in the middle of the season.

That will suck if this season is only 8 episodes. The title of episode 8 does seem to indicate that it's the final episode.

So can we expect these flashback episodes?
Lip and Carl
Debbie and Liam
Frank (and Fiona?)
Kermit and Tommy

Re: Shameless (Showtime) -- The 11th and Final Season -- premieres 12/6/20

Those are separate from the actual season. It was announced a few weeks ago.

There will be a new episode this weekend and then another break. The final season order was for 12 episodes.

With the hit series already two episodes into the 11th and final season, Showtime has announced plans for an even bigger celebration. The network has ordered Shameless Hall of Shame, a six-episode series that will "feature new, original Shameless scenes juxtaposed with a retrospective look at each character’s journey over the prior 10 seasons."The first episode is set to air Dec. 27 and showcase the love story of fan favorites Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Mickey (Noel Fisher).

Shameless season 11 will occasionally be taking a week off, allowing for Shameless Hall of Shame to air at the usual time slot of 9 p.m. ET on Sundays.

I did enjoy seeing most of the Kevin stuff again. Quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen was when Kev's neighbor in the wheelchair started himself on fire. The stuff with Kev and V's mom seems super cringey now. Not sure if it seemed that way at the time. Also nice to see when they actually showed (female) nudity on the show.

I had no idea what anyone was talking about with regards to clip shows.

IMDB shows this season is 12 episodes, and the last episode that aired was on Dec. 20 and the next episode will be Jan. 10. So anything that's being shown in the last couple weeks definitely isn't considered part of the season.

Re: Shameless (Showtime) -- The 11th and Final Season -- premieres 12/6/20

From Wikipedia:

1 This is Chicago (12/6)
2 Go Home, Gentrifier (12/13)
3 Frances Francis Franny Frank (12/20)
1 Ian & Mickey: Daddy Issues (12/27)
2 Kev & V: God Doesn't Give with Both Hands (1/3)
4 NIMBY (1/10)
3 Lip: Once Upon a Philip Gallagher (1/17)
4 Debbie, Carl & Liam: They Grow Up So Fast (1/24)
5 Slaughter (1/31)
6 Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good... Eh, Screw It (2/14)
7 Two at a Biker Bar, One in the Lake (2/21)
8 Canceled (2/28)
I sort of figured that "Canceled" would be the final episode, but maybe not. Also looks like the sked skips a week to accommodate the Superbowl.

Re: Shameless (Showtime) -- The 11th and Final Season -- premieres 12/6/20

I just think they haven’t announced the episode names / details yet. When the final season was announced, it was said it was for 12 episodes.

I’m not even sure if they’ve filmed all the episodes yet. Nor do I think Showtime have any other shows in production. I don't think Billions was able to shoot their final 5 episodes yet. City on the Hill got shut down. The L Word might be, but likely will have to stop. So, they are probably looking to extend this final run of their highest rated show as long as possible. Basically, they have nothing else to air. They should start looking at importing some UK shows or something.

Re: Shameless (Showtime) -- The 11th and Final Season -- premieres 12/6/20

Better late than never, I guess. Just over a year ago, I mentioned in another thread that I had never seen Shameless. Well, in that time I've managed to catch up, and I'll be watching the remainder of this final season with y'all.

As I was progressing through the series, I dug up some of the old Shameless threads here, as well as the weekly reviews on AV Club. And I saw a little Boogie Nights reference that no one else commented on (I'm posting it here, rather than resurrecting a thread from several years ago). When Frank was trying to donate sperm to artificially inseminate Ingrid, he complained about the porn provided in the donation room. He asked if they had any movies with Nina Hartley. Nina Hartley, of course, was the former porn actress who played the wife of Macy's "Little Bill" character in Boogie Nights. I can't believe no one else picked up on that.

Nina Hartley isn't a former porn actress. She's still at it, even at age sixty.

And let the record show that Josh-da-man really knows his pornography.

Wow. Still making movies at 60. I did not know that.

Just because no one mentioned it in the thread, didn't mean we didn't pick up on it. I realized it when I saw the episode.

In the reverse of what you intended, you just made me realize Nina Hartley was Macy's wife in Boogie Nights. I didn't come across Nina Harltey until the late 2000s during her career resurgence and it would have a been a minute since I last saw Boogie Nights. So I knew the reference in Shameless but didn't know she was in Boogie Nights.

I was a few weeks behind and didn't know about these. As it turns out, the first "new" episode on my DVR was the first clip show. This tactic doesn't really surprise me. Showtime has always been guilty of dragging their shows out.

I will admit that it has been fun to look back on some of those moments, many of which I'd forgotten about. But do we need so many clip shows?! The clip shows did sort of remind me how strange it is that this show will be going out without Fiona.
