I started getting tired of this show a couple seasons ago, but I'm actually looking forward to this.

Looks like they recast Dom this season... guess his story’s not over yet.

Ron Raines (of Guiding Light fame) has replaced Brian Dennhey.

I loved this show.. but stop after season 2 or 3... been a while.

Looks like Liz is back to being a "Fugitive" again for now. I was surprised that they recast Dom after Dennehy's death. But, I guess they felt like his story with Liz is incomplete.

and I had a feeling that Liz and Ressler had a connection.

I don't think they'll recast Glen at least. Hopefully, they give his character some kind of wrap up.

Glad it is back!!

Oh, I’m terrible. I didn’t even realize Dom was recast. But there was something in the back of my mind that was telling me something was off - like I thought the character died, but now I’m aware the actor passed.

The trouble with this show is that they don’t do “previously on” recaps, so I was trying to catch up with what I remembered from last season.

Just watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for the first time. It took me a couple of seconds to recognize her, but the actress who played Katarina Rostova was Steve Martin's wife in this.

I just caught episode 2, which aired a few weeks ago. Looks like the show is on break until January 22nd. With COVID, I anticipated weird scheduling this season so they can get caught up with filming.

Anyways, wow. Looks like Red and Liz's relationship is permanently scarred after what transpired. Red better have a really good reason for what he did.

Very strange they decided to schedule it this way, but it looks like they are just gonna stop at the actual planned season 7 finale until next year.

Yeah I didn't think about that. You're probably right that they probably had these 1st 2 scripts planned to air last season. And this episode with the big cliffhanger was likely the season 7 finale.

The show came back on Friday. I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet.

But in other news, it was renewed for a 9th season today.

So I finally watched the return episode. So, Liz is now a wanted terrorist and on The Blacklist and Red is a murderer again. I hope there's some really interesting explanation for these turn of events. Red was trying to justify his actions and Liz didn't want to even hear it. Now Liz is out for blood and plants a bomb that nearly kills Red and Ressler. I feel like there's something missing here. I know it has to do with Katarina.

Yeah as a return episode it didn't do much for me. I was actually annoyed with it.

Meh, I'm pretty much watching out of obligation at this point.

This show has really jumped the shark.

Red is so weird about the whole thing that I am wondering if Katarina is really dead or it was staged (again).

d2cheer 02-03-21 09:13 AM

Re: The Blacklist (NBC) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 11/13/20

Obviously staged. He keeps using words like I know what you thought you saw etc. I will admit not being thrilled so far with the new season even though we are only 3 episodes in. It has time to correct.

On the Feb 5th episode, I laughed when Harold Cooper viewed the flash drive on his work computer, without using Aram's help. Just some mysterious flash drive that was placed in his car. Just plug that right into the network, like the Stuxnet virus haha

Still love the show and it's characters but baffled as to why it was renewed again.
They could effectively end this season with a solid 8 year legacy but it seems they're going full on "Dexter" on us.....

Sony makes a killing on this (and frankly they have almost no other shows anymore) and NBC has some partial owner ship in it.

So, money.

 Glen (Clark Middleton)

Such a strange but brilliant episode. I can't wait for Huey Lewis to actually appear on The Blacklist because of this.

... and the second week in a row that Megan Boone has had off.

Yea, I thought it was weird Liz wasn’t in the episode again. I wonder why? Maybe she had a Covid scare and had to quarantine for two weeks during filming. Purely a guess...

Re: The Blacklist (NBC) -- Season 8 Thread -- Premieres 11/13/20

Just saw the Feb 26th episode:

I completely forgot about Elizabeth Keen until Harold Cooper mentioned her during the last couple minutes of the episode. I actually was more entertained by this episode, since the focus was on the criminal underworld side.

I would have liked to see more of Reddington and that woman. Nice subplot. I thought the writers were going to have the restaurant get robbed and have Reddington “take care of it” in his criminal way.

I also noticed in that scene where Reddington calls the woman - two people on bikes in a wide shot and they were wearing masks. The only hint of Covid in the Blacklist world.
