How To With John Wilson (P : Nathan Fielder) - HBO Docu-Comedy Series - 10/23/20
This new series that is described at a “docu-comedy series” premieres on 10/23. It is supposed to be quirky and very watchable. Produced by Nathan For You’s Nathan Fiedler. Apparently it’s better to watch episodes knowing as little as possible as they unwind in unpredictable ways.
Reviews have been very good.

Documentary filmmaker and self-described “anxious New Yorker” John Wilson serves as writer, director, cameraman, producer, and narrator of this all-new six-episode comedy docuseries. In a uniquely hilarious odyssey of self-discovery and cultural observation, Wilson covertly and obsessively films the lives of his fellow New Yorkers while attempting to give everyday advice on relatable topics. Building upon Wilson’s previously released “how-to” short films, the episodes take wildly unexpected turns but are grounded in Wilson's refreshing honesty.
Along with Wilson, the show is executive-produced by Nathan Fielder, Michael Koman, and Clark Reinking.

I generally hate hipster comedy too. I’m sure people will be turned off the voice over. Thankfully, this rose above all that.

Episode 2 is up.
I never thought 30 minutes about scaffolding could be so entertaining.
I think this is the most New York show I’ve ever seen.

The second episode should have been the premiere. It was more focused and funny than what they led with.

Sepinwall referenced far more male nudity in another episode of the show. He wouldn't say in what context and I had just hoped it wasn't worse than THAT was.

It does kind of come out of nowhere. No pun intended.
It did fit with the other guys story though, and I thought it was funny how he tied it back.

Great second episode. My wife can't watch this show. She can't handle handheld cameras especially since that is the majority of this show. She started getting sick like 2 minutes into both episodes.

This show is ridiculous and quietly depressing. Hope it gets a second season.
Episode 3 had a single sexual instance for those that care about such things - a post it note shopping list with a small sketch of a couple in missionary, and one f-bomb.

I thought Episode 3 was boring as hell. Light on comedy. Interesting topic, though.
