One thing I’m not the biggest fan of both here and in The Suicide Squad is I feel like James Gunn uses a lot of swearing just for the sake of it. To the point where it’s not funny or effective and just makes the dialogue sound stupid. My one minor complaint.

Awesome Spotify playlist, Tigertailz, I forgot about them! The only vinyl I still have from that pile that Peacemaker flipped through was Cinderella's debut. I looked up what the Pretty Boy Floyd debut vinyl goes for these days and it's similar to the Firehouse album, a little too pricey for me to commit to right now, but man that was some good glam metal.

I missed the story that Vigilante was recast after 5.5 of the 8 episodes were shot.

https://screencrush.com/peacemaker-vigilante-recast/

That's nuts but it seems like the right choice.

Okay Rich, for a second there I thought that on the 6th episode we would notice a different voice/person in the role of Vigilante (with maybe an explanation that the first Vigilante was killed off-screen on a mission and a new person had taken up the Vigilante mantle); however, the article explains that Stroma is the recast Vigilante and Gunn had to go back and reshoot the Vigilante scenes that starred the actor first cast for the role, which makes sense. It does sound like it was for the best and Stroma instantly clicked with Cena as he took over the role.

Also, for some reason, I thought that Freddie Stroma was the kid who was first introduced to audiences in The Mummy films (the ones staring Brendan Frasier) and was a bit confused why articles kept referencing the Harry Potter series but from IMDB I see that yup, the Harry Potter films were the first big staring roles for Stroma.

We are at a point where in future weeks only one Peacemaker episode will drop on HBO Max, correct? Being able to watch 3 episodes this weekend was a fun binge.

ETA: I wonder if the scene where Vigilante steps in for Peacemaker and seemingly casually takes out the butterfly children had anything to do with the actor who first suited up to play Vigilante wanting off the train. If so, I get it...that was a hard to watch but also great scene, as it shows that even Peacemaker has scruples and can be freaked out at what he is asked to do in the line of duty.

Yeah, I can see a lot of reasons why someone wouldn't mesh well with a character on this show. Better he got out now instead of any potential future use of the character and Stroma has nailed it so far. The other guy may have seen DC, HBO Max, Director of Guardians and Suicide Squad and just signed on.

Pretty sure if Gun offered me a job I would do whatever he said. He has shown the ability to be loyal to people who work with him and vice versa.

And even though this guy peaced out after 5.5 episodes already shot, Gunn still spoke highly of him

Is it me or is Peacemaker one of the few "heroes" who actually like to party and fuck?

Tony Stark? Oliver Queen, etc.

So that was insane. Everyone on this show is either a psychopath or a sociopath. I really hope and pray Codpiece makes an appearance.

Definitely the best WB/DC show in years and I enjoyed the first 3 episodes more than any of the D+ Marvel shows. Peacemaker proves that being forced to a "family friendly" format can really be limiting. The only recent Marvel show that might be comparable was Hit Monkey on Hulu, which just wasn't very good.

Fair enough. I guess I shoulda said DC Hero; and one that has been shown doing it in a show. Arrowverse GA was like that pre-island/pre-GA..

Yes i know. But again..i was focused on past and current DC Hero TV shows where the Hero was shown indulging in sex and substances. As mentioned, i should have made that distinction in my OG post...

Doom Patrol has Brendan Frasier's character banging a chick in the pilot (complete with necessary butt shot and nipples). But that's before he becomes Robotman and frankly that's about all there was that I recall.

You'd think a kid named "Speedy" would be doing amphetamines instead of smack.

It was the 70s. People thought amphetamines was a thing only bored suburban white ladies did.

I love love love how all in Cena has gone with Peacemaker. He's so much better in the part than I initially gave him credit for.
