Finished the season. So great. My wife and I had a hard time with some of the accents occasionally so we most definitely lost a bit of the dialogue. That is probably my only nitpick of the show.

I just read that Sudeikis is splitting with Olivia Wilde. I wonder if that was going on while this was filming and those parallel emotions factored in to his performance.

I'd think so, Lasso was commissioned in October 2019 and they split in early 2020. The whole "I'm giving you 4,000 miles" definitely lands harder.

Just watched Season 1 over the past week. Was thinking this might be a good "stupid-funny show"/a TV version of Major League. I ended up being really impressed, it was funny but with good stories and interesting characters. Looking forward to more.

Working my way through Season 1. Very cute show. I thought it was weird that it's an Apple exclusive made by Warner Bros TV. Seems like if WB is making it, they should have been for HBO Max content. Wonder how this deal came together, whether it was in place before Max was created or whether they had first crack at it and passed.

The free trial for Apple TV + ends in July. For me it's July 1st.
So I see what Apple did there.

Bill Lawrence's production company has an overall deal with WB, so that's why they're the studio.

Hoping to watch this now after all the Emmy noms. I like Jason but don’t care for soccer at all

I am not a soccer or sports fan and resisted watching the show for that reason, but in the end, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I would likely put myself on Ted's level of knowledge of the sport tbh ( he didn't know squat).

Just watched the first 4 episodes of Season 1 today. I really love it.
someone else said this, it’s really what we need right now, and it is. Even though that’s corny as fuck.
Thank God it’s not really about soccer (sorry, I know it’s the most popular sport in the world).
writing is so good and the cast is great.
I had forgotten that Jason really is a Midwest boy (Oklahoma) and a real athlete (basketball), I think. So this should be an easy role for him. He’s very good in this.

The S2E1 premiere is up. 40 minutes long. Watched it with my son. It’s cute, but…. I don’t know, maybe a little too precious. Everyone is behaving like a caricature. I bough Roy Kent visiting his neice’s school because he liked her. Being a Girls U9 soccer coach and chewing out his players, then watching reality TV with the moms? That’s hard to buy. Same with the team and their instant cure after one session with the sports psychologist. Also the first episode had no conflict, which makes for a less interesting story, though I am certain that will be rectified in upcoming episodes. I loved S1, but this first episode makes me wonder if that first season magic might be gone and replaced with too much preciousness? I hope not. Apple has to know how important this show is for their service.

The first episode of 2nd seasons is always a rough one to land imo - you are no longer making an unknown property, there are expectations in place, etc;
I haven't watched this yet but hopefully Lawrence and coach Beard know what they're doing.

I just finished season 1 last night. I had three episodes left that I kind of stalled on finishing. Good season overall and glad they didn't go the cliched route of making Richmond a winner in Ted's 1st season. A season of coming back from relegation could be fun.
I was also surprised and also glad that Ted and Rebecca actually became friends. It probably would have gotten really old with her being his nemesis trying to sabotage him every week. Rebecca actually became more likeable as the weeks went on.

First episode of season 2 was great! Wanted more by the time it was finished.
Roy maybe my favorite. Too great with the dialogue.
Did NOT see the twist at the beginning coming.

I’m 4 eps into season one and this might be my favorite tv show ever.
Currently it’s St Elsewhere.
I haven’t had a smile on my face all the way through episodes like I have with this show in a long time.
btw what are the nbc characters this is based on, I don’t understand what that means?

I believe it's just Ted Lasso. He was a fictional coach that appeared on some of NBC Sports soccer telecasts. Sudeikis played him back then too. I saw a clip of an old NBC sports soccer segment from 7 years ago and Sudelkis was on it as Lasso and in character.
