If you want something else to watch thatís animated, Prodigy is pretty fun. Itís aimed at the younger set, but still has some fun stuff and even some good callbacks to other Trek shows.
Both Lower Decks and Prodigy are canon too, so things that show up in both shows (like the Prodigyís stellar drive) will probably show up and be referenced in other shows.

Are that many people not watching because it's animated? I thought it had more to do with the tone of the series. I know it took me a couple of episodes for me to accept it. It was so irreverent and crude that I didn't like it at first. Then their absolute unabashed love of Star Trek really showed through. I don't understand the bias against animation. It's proven itself for decades now that it can be everything that live action can be. And in a lot of ways a lot more.

Yeah I'm going through Prodigy right now. Have a couple of episodes left but it's pretty great. The Protostar is a pretty cool ship. I'm hoping it'll catch on with kids but I'm not sure if it has/will or not.

Well, there's always the bias against animation, even within the sci-fi community, which you would think would be more open minded but I guess not.

And I follow Trek topics on Twitter and I'll see so many people complain about there not being any good Trek on right now because they don't care for Disco or Picard, but if you try to suggest LD or Prodigy the response is always along the lines of "oh, I thought it was just a cartoon".

OMG just a cartoon?! JUST A CARTOON!

Some of the greatest pieces of media (IMHO) have been cartoons.

LOVE THAT TEASER POSTER!

That's only still 6 weeks away!

Shows in one picture how much love and respect the showrunners of LD has for ST.

Good to see a date, I've been jonesing for this (SNW filled that spot for me pretty well, but LD is definitely it's own thing).

I wonder if using the poster for Search for Spock is a hint that they may have to steal the Cerritos at some point to rescue the captain?

Very good. Binged the first 2 seasons a month ago - such a great comical take on Trek.

I didn't make it through the first episode. Maybe I should give it another shot.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

I watched the YouTube of the ST: Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds Comic Con panels and they were a fun watch. I think it takes a bit less than an hour of your time to watch. Nothing particularly earth shattering is revealed on the panels, but I am a fan of both shows so it was worth my time.

The first episode of Season 1? Yeah, Season 1 was hit or miss for me...this show really hit its stride in Season 2.

So, season one can be skipped? Because I've really tried to 'get it' but this show is just seems to be ignorant characters shouting at each other.

I gave up after the first episode then came back and gave it another shot when S2 came out. By the 3rd episode or so I was hooked.

I think you can...I mean Season 1 gives you an idea of who each character is, but most (not all) stories are stand-alone.

Very fun as usual. Hilarious to see the women at the vineyard throwing themselves at Boimler and him just not caring.

I was a little underwhelmed by the first season but liked the second season better. The cameos by past cast members are great.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

The second ep is up and is good as usual.

Mariner being under Ransomís watch opens up new opportunitiesÖ but not as many as Boimler being a ďyes manĒ.

And Martok was a great cameo as the DM of the Bat'leths & BIHnuchs gameÖ those Ferengi are still cashing in.

Episode 2 of Season 3 wasn't as much fun as Episode 1, but still entertaining.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

Scary Trek predator thanking the captain for mimosas in the middle of his hunt was pretty funny. Average episode but that's because STLD has raised the bar pretty high lately.
