There were flashes of their old selves, but I agree that both of them sounded different, particularly Shimerman. The "tone" of the voice acting in this show is also considerably different from DS9, which probably also played a part.

Whelp, if you were jonesing for a Peanut Hamper centric episode, you got it this week.

What a strange (yet intriguing) story.

And that last scene was the icing on the cake:
Spoiler:
Agimus and Peanut Hamper teaming upÖ thatíd suck.

"Everything flies here, why do you call it a sky snake? Isn't it just a snake?"

I wasn't sure a Peanut Hamper episode would work, but it did.

Peanut Hamper ep was weird as i watched but by the time it was over...i realized i enjoyed it. Peanut Hamper is insane and had some great one liners. I loved the bird people from the planet Areola or whatever

Thank goodness. The other day I was in a department meeting and we were discussing our end of the year goals and it occurred to me.. I've not really heard anything about Peanut Hamper lately. Whew!

Decided to give this a second try because I want to watch the DS9 episode. Still donít exactly love it but Iíve gotten more used to it. Watched the first four episodes and it does get slightly better.

You know that's a very good point. Something that I had to get used to and generally hate about modern TV (especially cartoons) is how unbelievably face paced everything is. It's like they're just reading their lines at each other without any room for reaction. So that could have really played a role in Visitor and Shimerman playing those roles in the LD style.

Peanut Hamper!

I thought it was a great crazy episode. Probably one of the craziest ST episodes ever. Almost like a What If..? episode (hey wouldn't that be a great idea for a Trek show?) But it worked for me. I can totally see how it wouldn't work for everyone. Especially since the regular cast had nothing to do.

Yeah, this has been my biggest complaint about this series from the beginning, but I still watch it (although that Peanut Hamper episode has me reconsidering).

This episode was pretty good, although not as good as the two episodes prior to it. Was Jack Quaid (Boimler) in this one at all - I thought maybe they needed to make one without him, so this one was it?

That was an amazing Trek story. You canít do it all the time or it doesnít work, but every once in a while it helps to show another facet of life in the Star Trek universe but outside of the Federation.

This weekís ep - Crisis Point II: Paradoxus - was a trip.

And like Boimler, I too hate cliffhangers. 😉

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

Surprised this thread was not bumped already, as the first two eps dropped yesterday. I enjoyed them both, and based on what feels like the stinger for episode 1, some major things are in store for the crew of the Cerritos. The end of episode 1 took a dark turn, and this carried over into episode 2. However, the focus so far is on the day to day adventures of the Lower Deck's crew.

ETA: I stumbled onto a link to Alan Sepinwall's review of season 4 and it was a very positive review. Nice.

I love that the crew was honest about what Janeway did to Tuvix.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

"I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee" is a nice riff on Harlan Ellison's short story "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream."

I liked Mariner's offhand referral to the SNW crossover episode when she said "Like that Captain Pike thing we can't talk about" to Boimler.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

We got caught up over the weekend (still behind on SNW though) and I love this show so much. Glad to see Ransom finally figuring out Mariner's mindset, he's portrayed as a dumb jock sometimes but he understands people pretty well.

And Rutherford's line "I can just ask for the things I deserve?" that's going to become very popular with people who have trouble speaking up in work or social situations.

Yeah, and then at the end they realize the individuals are more important in the long run thus showing Janeway made the right choice all along.

Nope not at all. They deftly avoided making a stance on the subject when Tendi deliberately stated that it's an amorphous blob of flesh. Not sentient. So the only moral pathway would be to separate them into their individual selves again. I thought it was brilliant.

The whole episode was brilliant and a great love letter VOY. They even had a throw away line about how the creepy grey clown wasn't a holoprojection. The real icing on the cake was the borgified robotic salamanders. The only thing they didn't mention was Harry Kim's non promotion. They did have his clarinet though.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

I'm not fully caught up on this season, but just watched ep 4, "Something Borrowed, Something Green" and it was a lot of fun, with Tendi, Mariner, and T'Ana visiting Tendi's home on Orion for her sister's wedding. Some good bonding moments between them, and a lot of backstory for Tendi.
