They should have killed Boymler and then had him back in the episode and not even mention it.

Or send the other Boimler serving on the Titan back to the Cerritos to replace him.

Anyone watching S3? Not as good as last season, IMO, but still funny.

It's alright. That's about all I can say for it.

It's good but so far it's been a day or three after it hits P+ before I get to it.

They're landing a little softer than the first two seasons, but this one had some great stuff with Boimler and Mariner hallucinating and the engineering team inventing a destressing machine (that's probably a secret orgasm machine tbh).

“Who signs up to go to space just to garden” was a fantastic line with a great payoff.

This latest episode is a favorite of mine, some great lines of dialogue.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

I think the first episode was amazing in terms of the story/references/jokes. The last few episodes have been good but nothing earth shattering. Can't wait for the DS9 episode. And REALLY can't wait to see them on SNW. I wonder how they'll get them on the Enterprise.

Anyone see they released a LD mobile game? I don't care too much about mobile games so haven't checked it out.

The last episode was firing on all cylinders for me... Glad to see the Federation is still dealing with "Masks". The whole hallucinations scene was great.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

Good episode this week, although it's becoming a more "serious" show (with lots of jokes) every episode instead of an all-out self-owning farce. That's ok, as long as they keep up the great franchise references.

I loved rage Boimler.

I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Trek that doesn't take itself too seriously, and TONS of references to other Trek shows if you're in the know. Good stuff.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

I would consider last weeks episode to be more of an all humor episode, but a bit of seriousness regarding the mission they are tasked to do for a particular episode mixed in with humor could work just fine. When I caught a handful of Next Gen and Deep Space Nine eps on Netflix over the past 12-18 months I did notice that there were some nice moments of levity mixed in throughout an episode that sometime turned out to be quite serious, or was a bit heavy and definitely not one of the lighter episodes of Next Gen or Deep Space Nine.

I think that Lower Decks can pull this off, actually, to SNW's credit they are also able to introduce at least a small amount of dialogue that adds some levity to an episode where they are being pursued by Gorn who want to feed on them without the attempts at humor acting like a needle scratch on a record that completely takes you out of the moment.

I look forward to watching this weeks episode tonight.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

Rutherford’s back story was told very well this episode. I liked that they are trying tie in some season-long threads, add a bit of mystery.

Rage Boimler was great… or should we call him “Excess Confidence Boimler”? 🤬

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

A very nice return to form for LD. The first few eps of this season had felt a little off, like the writers had pushed themselves too much but finally got their groove back.

Loved to see the recognition of how enlisted get into Starfleet.

And the butt bugs!

Also, it seems very likely that it's Section 31 that put the implant on Rutherford. They'd gotten a little overplayed over the years but I'd love to see this show's take on them.

"Reflections" is by far the best episode of Season 3 so far...really fun and really funny (Boimler's profane rant on the planet was awesome!).

Another great episode. I cracked up at the Kirk/Spock cutout.

Yeah, just circle around the station like we are in awe of the pylons was a great bit. For me one of the funniest bits not just in this episode but the show in general is when Beckett is gleefully stunning all the ladies in the room who are friends of her girlfriend and said girlfriend is cackling like a maniac in the background as folks are zapped.

After a slow start to the season it's really taken off. Entire DS9 episode was pure gold pressed latinum.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks (Now on Paramount +)

The DS9 episode was really great.

One thing that was surprising to me is how different Nana Visitor and Armin Shimerman sounded. They sounded so different then their characters. I know it's been a long time since they've played them and we've all aged a lot but I guess it was extra odd since they were playing their characters not too far removed from the original run of DS9.

Armin Shimmerman wore the fake teeth to get the voice right.

I jumped ahead to the end credits to confirm it was really them (I would have been surprised if it wasn't).
