"'Hightown' is a crime drama about fiercely flawed people using whoever and whatever they can to get through the night. Through these characters, 'Hightown' explores themes of addiction and recovery and the possibility of redemption." Writer and executive producer Rebecca Cutter adds, "I cannot wait to see how Rachel Morrison and this brilliant cast bring the story to life." The scripted crime drama begins when a body washes ashore on Labor Day weekend and is discovered by an irreverent National Marine Fisheries Service officer, Jackie Quinones (Raymund), who is determined to help solve the murder even if the state cops want her nowhere near the case.

8 episode season. The first episode is already up on demand.

Meh. I know Cape Cod isn't Montauk, but the setting reminds me of The Affair. And the mostly unlikeable cast does, too. And not in a good way.

I mean, I don't know what I was expecting with a name like Hightown, but this seems like just another one of those "awful people doing awful things" that drove me from premium cable dramas to basic cable dramas. Just because HBO\Showtime\Starz lets you have a show about crack whores who that sleep with children for money, that doesn't mean they should.

Seems like no one watched this, but it actually had a decent arc and some real character growth for the main character. The plotting was interesting and pretty realistic. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Never quite shed the awful people doing awful things elements but it became much more balanced as the season went on. They announced the second season at end so it must have done OK in ratings.
