Better Call Saul (S5E09) -- "Bad Choice Road" -- 4/13/20

In the wake of Jimmy's traumatic misadventure, Kim takes stock of what is important. Jimmy attempts to return to business as usual, but it's more difficult than anticipated. Gus and Mike set a plan in motion.

That was the best few minutes of TV in a long time. Even my wife just said Kim is a bad ass.

Kim is fucking awesome.

I loved her explanation of what happened to Saul's car - I was thinking the exact same thing as an explanation. Very plausible.

Best episode of the series. That last scene was so fucking intense. I am so very, very worried for Kim now.

My one and only complaint is that grabbing the tequila bottle stopper was way too on the nose. Outside of that, just amazing stuff beginning to end.

And I know I say this every week but CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE RHEA SEEHORN AN EMMY RIGHT NOW?

And so much happened in this episode that I kind of forgot the opening. What a huge “flex” to reprise the split screen “Something Stupid” montage. It takes a supremely confident show to pull a stunt like that and assume your audience will get it. This show is hitting on all cylinders.

Seehorn, even while confronting Lalo with righteous indignation, still had that sound of genuine fear in her voice. She is so good!

So from what I gather it was Bolsa who hired the gang to rob Jimmy of the $7mil, but why would he want Lalo to stay in jail? Just because he doesn't like him or is there something I'm missing?

Just started this Series, I am at Season 1 Episode 3, but it`s really hard to get through. Does it get better with time?

Wow! This is the episode that they submit to the emmys so Rhea gets her Emmy.

I think it is because it runs against Gus' interests and would escalate the war between the Salamanca family and Fring. Plus, you know, $7M cash.

She is considered a Supporting Actor so they have to submit two. I would guess this episode and "Goodman V Wexler".
Can you believe that she has never even been nominated? And last year there were FOUR women from Game of Thrones who made the cut.

Great episode, but I feel like everyone's motivations are becoming overly convoluted. So after an elaborate scheme to get Lalo arrested, Gus had to switch to plan B because Lalo was able to make a phone call from jail. So Gus decided it would be in his best interest to protect $7 million in cash for Lalo to post bail just so Lalo can return to Mexico? (Because Lalo can't make phone calls from Mexico?)

Who was on the phone with Nacho? Seemed like it should have been Mike, but you could tell the voice was not him.

Wow that was some intense TV. I put it on pause for a bit because I really thought Kim was about to die, and I really really did not want to see that. That said where her character is in this show, seems like the only scenario left is for her to die at this point.

I think this was Gus' plan from the beginning. Frame Lalo for the crime he did commit. Then get him out on bail, so he'd have to flee the country.

Fring's immediate problem was that Lalo was in ABQ causing him trouble. So whether Lalo is in jail and on trial for murder, or out on bail and fled to Mexico, Lalo is not running around ABQ.
Fring is in a jam and doing the best he can at every turn, but we know he gets out of it, so watching the twists and setbacks is what makes it interesting. No easy solutions in the BB/BCS world.

Yeah - I was preparing myself for the moment where Saul tells the story for the umpteenth time and then Lalo just sits there with a blank face and replies "OK.". And then - BAM! - pulls out his gun and shoots Kim. End of episode.

I wanted to yell at Mike to shoot him NOW.

This is the same idea that made the Lalo/Saul/Kim scene so tense...we already know Kim is not around for the events in BB, so there is a very real possibility that these are Kim's last moments on the show during that scene. A brilliant use of what is otherwise a giant spoiler.

Re: Better Call Saul (S5E09) -- "Bad Choice Road" -- 4/13/20

It was definitely tense, but I knew they wouldn't kill off Kim.

As I mentioned in the previous thread, I think Kim survives the series as her death wouldn't make sense for Jimmy to still be in the game in BB.
However, if they do the illogical thing and kill Kim off - it won't be done until the latter part of their final season. No point in killing her off this early.
