This is the same idea that made the Lalo/Saul/Kim scene so tense...we already know Kim is not around for the events in BB, so there is a very real possibility that these are Kim's last moments on the show during that scene. A brilliant use of what is otherwise a giant spoiler.

We don't know that - just because she was off-camera during BB doesn't mean she wasn't there. And during BB, Saul never acted like some guy who just had his wife murdered. Though maybe he did pay the vacuum guy to hide her from the Cartel, but then he wasn't acting like he was scared of the cartel either.

I'm not saying I thought Kim would be killed, I'm just saying you couldn't rule it out.
Kim did not appear in Breaking Bad, nor was any mention ever made of Saul being married (in the present). He also made no mention or allusion to her as he disappeared himself. It is a tremendous stretch to assume Kim could still be around Saul during BB, unless you think she disappeared during BB for which there is even less evidence. Do we know she is dead? No, but she is gone one way or another and it will happen in one of the next 11 episodes and you can't tell me you know which one unless you have inside or other info from outside the contents of the show.

I don't see any plot hole with Kim not being in BB. We didn't see Saul's home either on that show. Did that mean he was homeless?
She's most likely gone by then, but this show does like to surprise us sometimes.

But seriously, I don't see VG pulling a cheap stunt where it turns out Kim was just hanging out at home the whole BB series and she was never mentioned or alluded to in any way.

Yes, that is exactly what it means. Every moment he is not on screen he stands stationary in a catatonic state where we last saw him.

And I agree. There is no way they’d do that.

Great episode, but I feel like everyone's motivations are becoming overly convoluted. So after an elaborate scheme to get Lalo arrested, Gus had to switch to plan B because Lalo was able to make a phone call from jail. So Gus decided it would be in his best interest to protect $7 million in cash for Lalo to post bail just so Lalo can return to Mexico? (Because Lalo can't make phone calls from Mexico?)

I was thinking that Fring originally thought putting Lalo in jail would take him out of the picture. But then he changed his mind after Lalo was still able to get a phone and burn down his restaurant? So then he decided to help him get bail, knowing that he would have to return to Mexico until the heat wore off? That made the most sense in my head.

I still believe that in the end we see Kim in the Nebraska timeline, but man it was set up for her to do last night. Ill give them this, BB and BCS have created some of best villains ever if you think about it, Fring, Lalo, Todd, Jack, the brothers and of course Walter White.

Re: Better Call Saul (S5E09) -- "Bad Choice Road" -- 4/13/20
With the BB sales and coupons, I picked up all 3 seasons on Blu yesterday for about $40. We really didn't want to add any new shows to our schedule, but we just keep hearing how this show is the best show on tv, so for a great price, I just decided we needed to try.
We're 3 episodes in and we're not impressed so far. Does that not bode well for us liking it as it keeps going? Or does it start a little slowly and/or take time to really get into?
We liked The Walking Dead better after 3 episodes, same with The Killing, and Mad Men hooked us after the first episode. So, considering that most people would probably say Breaking Bad is BETTER than all 3 of those shows, I'm kind of nervous.
It's kind of boring so far, we don't really like anyone that much (although after the 3 eps we've watched, Jesse would be our favorite character), and we don't feel after each episode a real strong desire to get to the next show, the way we usually do, especially when watching an entire season when it's on disc already and you don't need to wait a week.
What are we missing? Will this get better or are were all of you fans/addicted to the show by episode 3?
Thanks.

Fring can't let the cartel know he has a side-deal going with Madrigal and Lalo was getting too close to that stuff. So he wants Lalo out of the picture but cannot kill him in the US or the cartel will blame him. So he sent Lalo to prison instead as a way to get rid of him. When Lalo was able to make phone calls Fring's only option was to get him bailed so he'd flee to Mexico. Once in Mexico, presumably Fring thinks he can keep him from investigating his secret side-deal more. Possibly because Lalo isn't the highest ranking cartel member down there so everything will get filtered through Don Bolsa maybe.

Yeah, the problem with Lalo is that when Werner bolted from the secret underground construction site to see his wife, it put Fring's big project on Lalo's map.
Gus is meticulous in his planning and plotting, and everything was thrown into chaos when Werner turned out to be a wild card.
And now gus is trying to play the bad hand he got dealt.
He can't have Lalo killed because it will draw attention to him. So he does the next best thing he can, work through the system to have Lalo taken out of the picture. But Lalo is still calling the shots from prison, so his next play is to put him out of sight/out of mind in Mexico, where he won't be in ABQ sniffing around Gus's affairs.
I would think that someone as clever and resourceful as Fring would be able to arrange some kind of "event" to take Lalo's life that would look random enough to not appear suspicious. Some kind of random traffic accident, or poison him so it looked like a cardiac arrest or brain aneurysm.

When introducing people to the whole Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe, what would be the watch order? BB first or BCS?

Even though BCS takes place in an earlier timeline the show does not ignore the events of BB when it comes to the way they tell the story and reveal information and characters. And more importantly -- though they are limited -- there are what would amount to major BB spoilers that bookend the start and finish of each BCS season which not only are spoilers but would make no sense if you haven't seen BB. And this could increase dramatically during the final BCS season.

Just chiming in that the last 10 minutes were fantastic... I loved the Kim & Saul team... they have each other's back.
I think Kim is still around and the tragedy is that he had to 'abandon' her to save himself after BB.

It was a 60 minute episode (without commercials) and it still felt like it flew by.
I think I saw next week has about the same run time.
