Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
This should be interesting.

It's recorded. Tom Hanks is host.

Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
This was a terrible idea. It's truly awful so far.

The laughing during Weekend Update is awkward and annoying.

Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
I thought the Zoom skit was fantastic.
The Weekend Update laugh track has obliterated any enjoyment I've had thus far. Fucking awful. |
Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
I saw the open with Hanks on YouTube. That was really weird.

I am convinced Pete Davidson has video of Lorne killing a homeless man. How else to explain putting his shitty video at the top of the show. |
Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
I liked it and it is better than no SNL
Hope they do more episodes. |
Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
During the Hal Willner tribute there was a segment in Brady Bunch boxes. Six recognizable female cast members, Paula Pell, and a woman in the lower right corner. Anybody know who the mystery member was?

We paused it to see who the 2 women I didn't recognize were, and never figured out who they were. Leave it to the geniuses here to figure it out. Thanks!

Thanks for the answer on Emily Spivey.
Except for the credits, did Cecily Strong appear in this episode at all? |
Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
Hanks knows how it is and said it. Typical SNL. Some good with some bad.

Yeah. Was far from an all-time classic SNL episode, but a good effort under the circumstances. Hopefully they won't have to do it too many more times.

Us too. Really enjoyed it. Sure, some of the material didn't work, but they were doing it from home with limited resources, so I cut a lot of slack here. The Zoom skit was funny as hell. And it was great to see Tom Hanks.
I think it showed how talented the cast was when they could do stuff with limited resources. The middle aged Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should have been a lot funner since it was a great premise  Next week is the Mulaney repeat and maybe they come back a week or two weeks later. I did not see Cecily Strong in anything either. |
Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
Interesting article
It might be tempting to think of last night’s effort as a curio, something to be exhumed only for a clip reel in one of NBC’s once-a-decade “SNL” anniversary celebrations. But the late-night mainstay’s “At Home” edition put the show in a place it hasn’t been in years: working without a rulebook or guidelines. In many ways, last night’s “SNL” was reminiscent of an early-era showcase, where the cast members were ready to throw stuff at the wall just to see what sticks, even if some of it didn’t. This wasn’t the funniest episode of “SNL” or its best. But it may be the one that has hewed closest to the show’s original spirit in quite some time. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...201526966.html |

I liked Chris Martin's cover of Bob Dylan's Simple Twist of Fate about four times more than any song he's done on the last three Coldplay albums.

I also liked the Kyle Mooney - Beck Bennett remixed call about nothing. "You can try, but I don't think they'll pick it..." "I'll write it up!"

Re: SNL 04/11/20 (S45E??) -- SNL #SNLAtHome
I'm impressed they did as much "sketch"-based comedy as they did, considering the circumstances. The online office meeting was not forced at all, neither was the dating show. The same with some of the solo bits, like Heidi Gardner as Bailey doing the YouTube movie review, and Mikey Day's Twitch feed. Both were very natural, and very well-done.
