Yay William! I hope he is not revealed to be a Host. That would be a very lame "twist".

Re: Westworld (S3E04) -- “The Mother of Exiles” -- 4/5/20

Got caught up with episode 3 on HBO Go today and now I'm ready for this one. Glad to see William in it.

I don't know how many of you watched the behind the scenes material from episode 2, but it was all shot in Spain. Those buildings looked amazing and had a very futuristic quality like the Singapore scenes. It's no wonder they took 2 years of production of the season.

I saw some people in last week's thread getting restless with the series. This is a slow burn show and it's not for everyone. You need to be really patient with Nolan and Joy's storytelling here. HBO also really upped the production value making every week feel like a movie.

Loved this episode. Glad William is getting the short end of the stick. Became a horrible person, doesn't deserve any sympathy

Yeah, great episode. And while last week's episode hinted at Charlotte's identity, I doubt anyone figured out all of the identities were....

Yes, the identities thing surprised me. I really look forward to this show every week. It’s still a slow burn but so much better than season two. Has anyone heard if this season is going to wrap it all up and be finished? The net doesn’t seem to know.

The two hope to make at least one more season of “Westworld,” though they’re coy about any more beyond that. Bloys says any decision about renewal will be made at some point after the Season 3 premiere, but don’t expect any new “Westworld” seasons to come faster than the 18 to 20 months it’s taken between seasons so far. Joy and Nolan say that’s just how long they need to put together a show this thematically and logistically elaborate — which they note is increasingly common with event TV.

On one hand I am a little upset that it's only going to be an eight episode season, especially given the nearly two year hiatus between seasons. On the other, there seems to be an economy of storytelling in eight episodes that just feels different from last season. There's no wasted subplots or unnecessary scenes here, its lean and it works

Having now seen this last few episodes, it seems apparent that the show is much more expensive than it was previously. Cutting two episodes probably offset the cost.

Oh hey, one thing I heard in my podcast that I forgot to mention here before Remember when in Episode 2 Bernard goes back to Westworld and it's all destroyed except for the Church :

That's neither an effect nor a new set. It is, sadly, the same set. It was part of the huge Paramount Ranch Fire of 2018. This is what was left after the fire was put out.

I'm having a tough time really getting into this season. It's not bad, but the normal convoluted story lines have been taken to a new level. I find myself doing a lot of "Wait, what?" and "Who?". I'm sure it's good and i know it's shot beautifully, but yeah, i may be watching more out of loyalty to the overall series and my girl Maeve than actually being into the season right now. I'm certainly NOT hate watching which is good so there's hope things my change for me before it's done.

Oh, I really disagree with that. I think it's a LOT more straightforward than last year. Watch these four 6 minute episode recap/summaries and see if you follow it better. This guy, who does the weekly podcast I listen to, does a beautiful job summarizing the episodes.

My point is i haven't been able to get into it, so any extra need to "pay close attention" is hampered. I also listen to one or two podcasts for this show to fill in what I may have missed.

See...a calm rational discussion. One guy struggling with the complexity of the show and the other offering some help as he seems to get it.

Why can't we all get along like this in Picard?

That's a very cool detail, I was wondering about this when my wife and I saw it last night. I'm loving this season so far, I think it's way more forward then the previous 2.

So while I'm not into podcasts in general, I have to admit, I'd be very interested in listening to one about this show. Decker, may I ask what podcast you're listening to?

This season has been extremely straightforward unlike season 2, and I love it. =)

I'm also really enjoying this season because of the more straightforward plot lines. I don't have to pay attention to whether Bernard is wearing glasses or not.

Big kudos to the location and set design folks, this looks absolutely fantastic. Wow!

And ERW in those mini-skirts doesn't hurt either...

I agree, season 2 was a hot mess and almost had me tuning out. This season seems to have been thought out a lot better while still not being totally obvious. my wife and I were wondering who was in the other hosts and it was far from obvious, and as an upside they didn't make us wait 4 episodes to see and needlessly drag that plot point out.

I'm finally caught up with season 3 but I don't really understand why people are jocking this episode as if it were the best thing ever. It's fine, it's on par with the first 3 episodes of the season, but nothing more. I want to see those giant drone robot mech things from episode or 3 wreak havoc.

She looks so freaking sexy and down right amazing that I've lost track of the story and can't even concentrate anymore on story line. My God she is stunning.
