Bosch (Amazon) — Season 6 Thread — premieres 4/17/20

When domestic terrorists threaten the fate of Los Angeles, Harry Bosch must save the city in the highest stakes season to date. Watch all episodes April 17!
This was renewed for a 7th and final season.

Looks like this is based at least partially on the Overlook, and they cast a Rachel Walling analog since they can't use Walling (she first appeared in a non-Bosch book).

I've read most of the Bosch series and I'm curious how they decided to pick the books to base each season on.

It seems like they mainly stuck with the earlier books in the series, I'm guessing because the later books trailed off in quality (IMHO).

But with only doing 6 seasons this seems like a lost opportunity. There are definitely still some strong books remaining to mine from.

Was the audience not there? I didn't care for this actor as Harry Bosch at first but he's made the part his own and now I can't imagine anyone else...

Last season was Two Kinds of Truth from 2017

I had hopscotched all around reading them before so I started over from the beginning back in 2018 (just got through Angels Flight this week) so I haven't read some of the newest ones.

7 seasons and 70 episodes is not enough? It's the longest running and most successful Amazon Prime series. People move on eventually. Most shows don't even last 2-3 seasons.

Season 6 premieres tomorrow. But, as what seems common with Amazon, episodes may start dropping tonight.

It's live and in 4K, where available.

Won’t seem to play on my Roku or Sony TV.

Edit: the 4K version won’t play. Gives an error. Standard version does play.

^ Yeah, doesn't playback on my Apple TV 4k. A friend said that he can play it in 4K on his Fire TV 4K stick.

Did a quick little experiment -- I clicked episode 2 in UHD and it plays back fine, so I'm assuming that the UHD playback error is currently limited to the first episode. Annoying but workable.

Thanks. Starting episode 2 now. Switching over.

Looks like the 4K feeds are still wonky. I was able to watch episodes 2-4, and 7 in 4K, but EP1, EP6t, and now am starting EP 8, will be in HD.

FYI... Using a ROKU 4K box I was able to stream Bosch S6, Episodes 2-5 in UHD but Episode 1 and 6 were HD only. UHD for 1 &6 gave an error and would not start.

I'm in EP 9 and it's in UHD.

Yea, 1, 6, 8 wouldn’t stream in 4K.

I’m on 9 now as well.

I'm on final episode in UHD.

One thing I'm just now noticing, is that no episode is more than 48-49 minutes long.

 - I should have said because I'm thinking they're gonna expand the running time for the final season.

Re: Bosch (Amazon) — Season 6 Thread — premieres 4/17/20

Just wrapped this up. This was a big improvement over Season 5, IMO. That one was probably my least favorite. This one got kind of dark towards the end. Looking forward to the final season, though this probably could've gone 8-10 seasons (and I'm rarely and advocate for a lot of seasons).

I watched A History of Violence last weekend and wondered what ever happened to that Ashton Holmes kid, and then he popped up here. Also, Lynn Collins... there's someone I haven't seen in a while. Probably since John Carter. She still looks really good.

I binged the first 5 seasons at the start of the pandemic when I began being home from work. I really love the show. My favorite thing about it is how on location they are all the time. It never feels like we're on a lot or soundstage. I've been to Hollywood a few times, but it must be a treat for all you who live there to see the sites pop up like this in an authentic way. In this season, the foot chase through The Ace Hotel was really cool.

I also really like the neo-noir feel of it. I think the Angel's Flight season really did this the best. The color hues, the music, top notch stuff.

I know in previous threads there were a lot of complaints about Maddie. I liked the character a lot in the earlier seasons, but the last two not so much. It seems her storylines are forced. I saw that Connelly said something along the lines that his focus as a writer would turn to her character once Bosch retires. You don't think Amazon would consider spinoff with her do you? For the book readers, is there where her character is at in the books? Or was the latest character development made up for the show?

Yeah, it was a terrific season. Yes, L.A. rocks -- I know all of those locations well. Man, I hate that this shows goes by so fast! #firstworldproblems

Sorry to know next season will be the last. In my view, there is plenty of material to draw form for several more.
Good season, but I thought "It's a Wonderful World" an odd musical choice for the final scene.
