Caught up with season 2 over the last few days on HBO Go (I stopped around episode 6 2 years ago)

and I watched the premiere last night. I thought it was great. I like this different take on the whole concept of the show. Jonathan Nolan did a great job directing. It's not wonder they took their time shooting it. This episode was shot on location in Singapore and Spain.

The Singapore city scenics looked beautiful and did have a futuristic quality. If you watch the behind the scenes feature on HBO Now or Go, Nolan and Lisa Joy talk about it.

The shootout in the park with Dolores was pretty badass. And yes Evan Rachel Wood looked really sexy in the tight mini skirts.

The ending post credit scene was an interesting way to bring back Maeve into the show.

Loved Season 1. Intrigued by the start here, but Season 2 left me cold enough that I’m not sure I know or care what Delores’s goal is.

Interesting soft reboot, but I’m missing West World already.

My predictions:

Spoiler:

This is not the “real” world. It is Future World. It may even be a “prison” Bernard built to hold Delores (assuming their stories are on different timelines again).

Caleb is not human. The Francis conversations were the equivalent of Bernard and Delores’s “diagnostic” conversations.

I am sure of two things: (1) we do not know enough yet to have the slightest idea what is happening; and (2) this is entertaining as hell.

In my opinion Bando, that is always the BEST form of entertainment. I still remember seeing The Matrix without knowing ANYTHING about it (never saw a trailer, didn't even know who was in it). For 20 years I have longed to recreate that experience ...

Season two was a step down. But only because season one is near perfect.

This was a great start. I ... mostly understand whatís happening. It always reveals itself over time. Iím already worried about a big simulation within a simulation reveal after the scene with the rich kid. They could all very well be in a simulation.
