Thanks for starting this thread! I'm more excited about this season than any in recent memory. EW.com just shared several articles previewing the season, including profiles of each player and information about a twist they're including (not so sure I'm excited about that).

Yes, hopefully this is a nice palate cleanser from last season.

Looking at who didn't come back the only ones I'd have been really interested in seeing on were Earl Cole (looks like he was in the mix but and has been in the mix in a lot of returner season, but opted out due to family commitments) and Todd Herzog would have been a nice comeback story (that is if he's still sober).

I'm sure it was tricky because there are only 14 women (24 men) who have won Survivor. Trying to get 10 of them to come back probably was a bit of a challenge. For the record, the women who didn't come back were Tina, V, Jenna, and Natalie White.

I have almost zero memory of Danni Boatwright and Kim Spradlin even though I've seen every season as it aired. Are those considered particularly bad or boring seasons? I do always hear how Kim is considered to be one of the greatest player for some reason though.

Danni was kind of everybody likes her and she ended up in the finals so she won winner, with a bitter jury against Stephenie.

Kim was on the men versus women (the one where both tribes were also on the same beach) season and ran the show. She had her alliance and the game so locked down it wasn't that exciting as a TV show.

CBS aired a one hour special tonight and I'm officially hyped for this season!

I didn't know about the special. Wonder if it will be available on the website like all the other episodes.

I'm sure it will be on their website or on demand if you have a cable/satellite/streaming subscription.

Here's a link to the special if anyone missed it. It's free with ads on CBS.com https://www.cbs.com/shows/survivor/v...s-and-players/

I liked the special, though I didn’t remember some of those players or moments.

I remember that they were my winning players in the DVD Talk game. :D Danni made her name in the basketball challenge and I think was in a pretty bad numbers situation before things turned around. Kim was one of those people where you knew midway through that she needed to be taken out fast before she swept through to the end.

Interview with Jeremy, before the game and before he knew Edge of Extinction was in it.... whoops.

Finally, pitch me a twist or a theme that you’d like to see on Survivor.
I would definitely not do Extinction Island again, I’ll tell you that.

I haven't watch Survivor in ages but I found this video from Richard Hatch saying why he won't be on the new season. Apparently the producers decided against it after the harassment incident that happened last season.

Unless I missed something, Richard forgets about what actually happened the last time with Susan Hawk, where she accused him of deliberately brushing against her with his genitals, -or something to that effect. I think it's that more than the nudity.

ET Canada vid of Tyson talking about the pregame alliances that form among the returning player and how he started playing the game before anyone made it on set by spreading rumors and lies.

Or maybe because he's been in jail multiple times?

He does address that in the Youtube video comments.

Hatch posted a new video talking about the All Stars incident:

Regardless, he makes a lot of good points. For instance the massive hypocrite Probst using peanut butter to convince female contestants to get naked. If nothing else, the videos leave no doubt that the FNF would have made it a more interesting season.

I haven't watched in 5 years, but planning on tuning in for this one, looks fun...

"If I were to sexually harass someone, it would be a man" is probably a thought that sounded better in his head than actually coming out of his mouth. That said, I do wish he was there. It's a little incomplete without him. But I can see the other side for CBS and why they didn't want to even kick that rock down the road.

Loved the recap show and am really looking forward to this. The only TV show that my son would watch with me (until he discovered Curb this season).

It's been a long time since I've seen that clip, but didn't Sue egg him on first telling him to bring it on baby? I remember she stopped and turned around to confront him instead of finishing her leg. That kinda puts things in a different light with Rich claiming the editing can change the true narrative. And they certainly could made a rule that he can't get naked in challenges. I don't think he ever intended to sexually harass anyone. OTOH, Hatch does strike me as someone who is a great bullshitter. His whole story on the IRS thing just doesn't make sense. I 'm completely on the fence here.

It's crazy how Jeff used to love the guy, and now he acts like Hatch is in a leper colony or something. It sucks that we will never get to see Hatch play again. He got screwed in All Stars because Lex was just so hell bent on taking down the king.

I'm unbiasedly hoping for Ethan or Adam to win.
