You know not everything is black and white, right? There can be some shades of gray here.

No one is saying CTE is the sole reason why he turned into a murderer - but it could be a contributing factor... along with other factors (self-hate and anger for being gay, upbringing, surrounding himself with bad people, etc.).
CTE could've just pushed him over the top - made him more paranoid about things/people, made him more angry, etc.

This wouldn't be the first time CTE has been connected to people doing very erratic and horrible things.

But when we can't test for CTE until someone is dead, what else can we do? If people think that him playing football as a child caused CTE which caused him to kill people, what other option is there other than shutting down the whole sport? Unless those same people think that a few people becoming killers is OK provided they still get to watch people injure each other on a sports field?

If someone believes A) playing football as a middle school/ HS aged child can cause CTE and B) that CTE can make someone a murderer in a gang that does drive-bys who otherwise wouldn't be, how can we let any children play the sport?

Finished this. Good documentary. I’ll give a small advantage to the Oxygen series for getting interviews with the fiancé.

Many things can cause someone to become a killer - we don't ban all those things though.

What else has science tied to people becoming cold blooded killers (assuming we're to believe that AH was a perfectly fine child before football)? Hell, even lawn darts were banned when children were hurting each other.

If we believe that CTE made him a killer, what's stopping every football player in the country going out and killing people if they so choose? They can just claim CTE which can't be proven until they're dead.

Now having said that it is interesting that CTE impairs judgement and increases difficulty in controlling impulsive and aggressive behavior. Take an already aggressive dude with bad judgment and then CTE completely destroys those mental areas ..

Production felt lazy to me. And, agree, the time jumps were all over the place and annoying. Also the first episode was like 80% info we already knew and they kept repeating it.
He also kind of comes off like that affluenza kid, people kissing his ass and making him think he was untouchable.

I thought it was a good documentary. One thing I had not thought about till it was brought up if weed was legal maybe he does not hang out with drug dealers. Who knows such a waste of talent and so many lives changed forever.

Did they say when he started being in a gang? It seems weird that there would be a Blood gang in Bristol, Connecticut.

Again, no one is saying CTE is the sole factor - just that it could be one of a number of factors.

There is legal medication available that has side-effects that can make people psychotic - yet they're not banned. Many women who've given birth have had postpartum depression leading them to do horrific things - but women are still allowed to have babies. Are you concerned about people in these scenarios as well?

I watched this over the weekend. I thought it was a good doc. I agree with what Goonies said.

CTE is mentioned, but it is only maybe 15/20 minutes of 3.5 hour doc. And it doesn't come across as biased. I would note agree with previous posts that say the doc suggests it was "was a huge factor into turning him into a murderer." There are plenty of people included who say that claim is bullshit or people who say it could be a contributing factor. The blame of his actions aren't put solely on it. There were many other personal things to contribute to the person he turned out to be.

I would say if you like true crime docs, it is worth checking out. The timeline of his actions is just insane.

The doc was a solid watch, but they spent a little too much time suggesting that both CTE and his sexuality were the reasons he did what he did - which is BS. Neither may have helped matters, but he would have been a bad dude, regardless.

But hey, at least they didn't try to say he was innocent, like the majority of documentaries about murderers. So props for that.

Have you ever been to Bristol? Not a place I'd like to hang out.

Watched this last night because the gal wanted to see it. Agree with all of the above. This doc really seemed to push that being gay and CTE were the reason he did what he did. That is my take-away from it. He was just a POS it is that simple. His mom what a piece of crap she was as well.
