New lead announcement and it's a good pick.

Oooh good choice. I actually like him better tbh.

Yeah I like McDermott much more than McMahon. He can play a badass cop well. I liked his cop show Dark Blue from years ago. And I think he's a much bigger draw than McMahon ever was.

From the article:

McDermott will succeed Julian McMahon, who is exiting FBI: Most Wanted after almost three seasons. McMahon’s last episode of Jess LaCroix, the head of FBI Most Wanted Unit’s team assigned to the most extreme cases, will air March 8. McDermott is slated to make his FBI: Most Wanted debut in Episode 17 of the current third season, airing in April. There are no details about his role yet but he will play a new character.

So McDermott will likely get in about 6 episodes this season. I'm behind on Law and Order: OC, but I believe he's still on it and won't finish his arc for another month or so.

They're going to have to come up with more actual story each week now without Jess' family nonsense.

DM is a better choice but the rest of the cast is still super dull.

Shit, I might have to start watching this now.

Wonder if the producers will portray McDermott's FBI character as the brother of the L&O:OC Wheatley character, as a possible "cross over" between the FBI and L&O franchises.

Metaphorically similar to real life mobster James "Whitey" Bulger and his politician brother William Bulger.

knew the actor wanted to leave, didn't realize
Spoiler:
they'd kill him off, although that's often the way they do it especially if there is any behind the scenes tension with the actor. I was hoping he'd get promoted or transferred and still show up once a season or something

RIP Jess

Pretty sad to kill him off. Now his daughter is an orphan. Will probably have to live with his Dad and new step Mom now.

I read that McDermott is already filming right now and as I posted above his 1st episode will air next month.

I knew he was leaving, but you don't often see the lead character of a show killed off like that. When he was shot, I was thinking he'd survive but choose to retire. Nope. Sucks for the actresses that play his girlfriend and daughter that they've lost their jobs.

She’s better as Teeter on Yellowstone than this crappy show. My wife loves McMahon since Charmed, so I’ve been punished and seen every turd he’s been in. Hope she stops watching this one. These type of shows are all the same, criminal of the week and where law enforcement characters have conversations to explain every stupid detail or this thing does this or that and how, for the dumb audience (csi was the king on that). Also wonder about his health. This last season he looked like he aged a lot , and his body movements seemed different.

Weird how so much of the cast has turned over in such a short period of time, even by Dick Wolf standards. I, for one, will miss the Native American characters on the show - it was a unique perspective.

Heh.

Maybe Dick Wolf will launch a new tv series in the L&O/Chicago or FBI wolf-verse, about cracking down on "incel terrorists".

thought McDermott integrated just fine.
if someone had never watched the show and didn't know about the casting change they likely would have thought that cast has been together for a while

Miguel Gomez, who plays Ortiz is leaving the show. Creative choice by the producers

Did anyone here watch McDermott's episodes now that the season is over or are you all behind still?

That's too bad, Ortiz was my favorite character on this show. I liked the actor when he was in The Strain, too.

I think McDermott's doing fine. His character is fairly different than Jess.

Man, this show seems to have trouble keeping actors. I wonder if there are problems behind the scenes.

That sucks. Ortiz was good character.

Yeah. I liked Ortiz as well. I initially wasn't a fan, but he definitely grew on me. Sad to see him go. As big a fan of Alexa Davalos as I am I would have rather seen her leave the show than him. Her character does nothing for me.

Geez...wonder how long this show will last with all these character replacements.

Alexa Davalos will not return for season 5, whenever the hell it returns.

According to the story, one of the producers informed her of the decision after she wrapped her final scene of season 4.

Shantel VanSanten, who filled in for Missy on FBI, is the new female lead on Most Wanted. She’s replacing Alexa Davalos.
