When The Strain did vampires at Auschwitz it didn't bug me. But I thought about it. Do we really need vampires at Auschwitz? It isn't horrible enough for you?
But I love genre films too much to be offended by nazi vampires or nazi zombies or whatever..This series isn't much different, it just has nazi spies and conspiracies and super-villians.

I’m out at episode 3. Who is this series made for. In this episode we get a drug induced dance number mixed with concentration camp horror and a mock tv commercial. The tone of this series is all over the place. Way to flippant given many of the scenes like they want things both ways and it just never gels. Pick a tone fellas

I think one of the things the writers are doing with these flashbacks and contrasts is to try to provide regular reminders for why the hunters to do what they do. Seeing these suburban Nazis assimilated into American society as neighbors and co-workers makes it difficult to dispense justice... but these flashbacks wake the viewer up as to who these monsters really are. It parallels what the hunters themselves must be dealing with internally.

I went into this with no expectations other than Al Pacino as a Nazi Hunter in a quirky throw-back 70's style exploitation film-like series. So far, it has met and exceeded those expectations. One thing that I'm disappointed in is the lack of promotional material... silly things like computer desktop wallpaper, retro TV tray, T-shirt, retro plastic segmented plate with cup set, etc.

Look, I'm not going to try to sell you on something if you're just not into it. I imagine the Dance/Fantasy sequence was mostly there to give the viewer a little jolt of adrenaline and then lace in the grim reality of this concentration camp girl against all this candy-colored Pop. One could also point out the intended irony of the song "Staying alive" against the vision of this dead girl (whose memory is "staying alive" through the hunters' actions). It's a stylistic flourish in a series filled with stylistic flourishes. Some are Black Comedy and some are darkly sentimental and some are just showing off.

At the 40 minute mark of the pilot I decided anything would be better. It’s just terrible.

Just watched the last episode (10) and, wow, they really decided to shake things up. A couple of big surprises there. It will be interesting to see what direction this takes if there's another season.

As for a second season, as much as I'd like to see one, I don't expect it given the lack of positive response to season 1.

Two episodes in and I think they have managed to check off the boxes for every stereotype.
Real time reaction: Oh shit! Dude just executed
This really feels like it was ripped from a graphic novel, from the did-we-get-‘em-all-diversity-cast to the composition of many of the visuals to the fact that this feels like an over the top superhero tale, not a Nazi-hunter tale.
I’m still not 100% on board because of the constant tonal shifts.
I will say that one place this is failing is with the Nazi characters. Outside of the flashbacks, I’m not hating them because they are Nazis, I’m hating them because they are cartoon douchebags. From Carmen SSanDiego to JoJo Lapdog Boy to Knockoff William Hitler Macy.
On the positive side, this is the first thing I have seen Pacino actually act in a long time. He’s pretty good in this.

Binged this show this week. It was solid, but not great. Thought it dragged occasionally, and it felt like
That said, I'd watch a 2nd season

Also it felt so obviously shoehorned in like “The A list star could only agree to one season, so let’s wrap that up, maybe we can get him for flashbacks later.”

My wife and I finished episode 4 last night and we are loving this. It’s just the right amount of quickly and serious. And the cast is great.

Finished this off last night.
It was OK, not great. There were some great scenes, but it was just OK overall.
Pacino was decent in this - did a better job than I thought he would have. His twist at the end was kind of lame.
They way they set things up for S2 really feels forced. It's really a one-and-done type of show. And Hitler? Come on.
I don't think I'll be watching S2.

Holy crap. We enjoyed this show in a kind of cheesy, action filled way, but god almight did that last episode completely jump the shark. Knocked the entire series down several notches for me.
The twist at the end was a classic "gotcha" that makes absolutely zero sense when you think about it. Even Pacino at his peak couldn't sell that bullshit, man.
I've rarely seen a show derail itself quite so completely over the course of a single episode. Very, very bad writing.

'Hunters' Renewed for Season 2 at Amazon.
It's unclear if stars Al Pacino, Logan Lerman and Jerrika Hinton will return for the sophomore run.
The retail giant/streamer has handed out a second-season renewal for 1970s-set Hunters, from showrunner David Weil. While the freshman season starred Al Pacino, Logan Lerman and Jerrika Hinton as a team of Nazi hunters, the streamer has not confirmed any casting for the drama's sophomore run.
Still, Weil told The Hollywood Reporter's podcast, TV's Top 5, that he sees more story for the trio. "There's such an exciting opportunity for all these characters into season two and beyond that I would be so excited to bring them back and get to work with them again and see where we can go," he said in a February interview timed to the Hunters premiere.
The series, the first to stem from Weil's overall deal with Amazon, is produced by the streamer, Sonar Entertainment and Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw banner. Weil served as co-showrunner alongside Nikki Toscano, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (who also directed the pilot), Win Rosenfeld, Nelson McCormick and David Ellender. The cast included Josh Radnor, Tiffany Boone, Carol Kane and Lena Olin.
“With Hunters, David Weil’s bold vision and fearless imagination powered a thrilling, twisty, action-packed first season that engaged Prime Video customers around the world,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, “We are thrilled that David, Jordan and the Hunters will be back with us for more.”
While Amazon does not release traditional viewership data, the series currently has a lackluster 64 percent and 67 percent rating among critics and viewers, respectively, on RottenTomatotes.com. "Whether it's good or bad is unclear, but it's definitely fascinating," THR's chief TV critic Daniel Fienberg said in his review of the show.
Hunters is one of a rising crop of Jewish-focused scripted series to cut through this year in the Peak TV era, joining the likes of David Simon's HBO limited series The Plot Against America and Netflix's breakout Unorthodox, among others.

I will watch this at some point for sure. JJL has lost a lot of her moxie with the work she had done to her face. I found it difficult to watch her on Atypical and that was part of why I dropped that series, she was very attractive but it's like she turned into the Joker with the cosmetic work she had done.
